Re: Remington 7600

Go with the 30.06. Like Helo said it's everywhere, not that a .308 win isn't. If your buying factory ammo the 30.06 is the way to go. It's has a little more of everything over the .308win and the ammo cost the same. Plus if you want a nasty up close thumper you can get 200gr Round Nose slugs of the 30.06.

I hand load for several Rifles that out perform the 30.06 but 95% of all my hunting is done with a 30.06.

Depends on what your huntin. If your only going after deer or hogs the 308 with 150 gr. bullets is plenty enough gun. A deer or hog won't know that the .308 is going a couple of hundred feet slower that the 06.

On the other hand if you will be hunting larger game, [Elk, Moose, etc.] the 30-06 would be a better choice. The 30-06 will do everything the 308 can plus shoot heavier bullets more efficiently. As far as the 300 Win Mag? It is overkill for most deer size animals but would be great on the largest of game. But you really better be holding onto your hat because the recoil of the 300 mag is pretty fierce.

All in all the 30-06 is the more versatile of the three calibers mentioned IMO.
