boy ohhhh boy!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm glad he was done with this thread..............
I was done with this thread but just for giggles I wanted to see how you manly men continue to talk about folks behind their backs. I almost figured that since I had said my piece that you'd all go back to just talking about hog hunting/trapping, but then I figured from previous posts that you'd all be like a little sewing circle and talk s$%t when the poster wasn't involved anymore.
- No I don't believe animals have rights like people. But I do believe that they should be treated with dignity, so yeah, posing with dead carcasses is not showing the respect for the so called "food" you're gathering.

My aren't you the opinionated one.
IMO only someone with little self esteem (read: attention needy) would say that he's taking his ball and going home and then still hangs around. And then has the audacity to bash those who comment on his behavior? Admit it, you enjoy stirring the pot and that's the only reason you have for posting in this thread. If you want to know what hunting is all about maybe you should try it sometime then you might just get some understanding regarding those who enjoy that sport.
Posing with a dead deer vs. a dead fish? Somehow I don't see it quite the way you do, thank goodness.
Most of us show our respect for the "food" we are gathering by thanking the Lord for giving it to us before we eat it.

My household hunts quite a bit.
The kills come home, get cleaned, and straight to the grill or frying pan with it.
And we love making those kills.
It's a lot like fishing.
Now to the original topic:
I dig it that Helo has a plan for that hog.

I'm not trying to stir the pot as much as I am pointing out that there is a humane and dignified way to hunt and obtain food. That is completely different from taking your food and stuffing it and mounting it on a wall so you can admire it. I don't need to go out hunting to experience this "euphoria" that you all feel. My brain tells me that I don't need to take life in order to enjoy myself.
BTW - none of the fish I posed with were dead, they all shot back into the water like a rocket. Yes, fish do die sometimes, but it is accidental; it is not my intent to go out there to kill fish, as opposed to hunting.

Hooray for you. So instead of killing you just torture them.

WOW! It must have taken a lot of deep thought to come up with that one!
Somehow a few minute fight, then being released back into the water doesn't seem like torture compared to a bowhunter who shoots the deer with an arrow, then sits around and waits for the animal to bleed to death. Yeah, same thing

I think it's kinda hard to catch and release those cute, cuddly, oh so tasty, DEER w/ an ARROW or a BULLET in it...

No deeper thought than the shallow pool you're wading in. And a witty response on your part I might add.
It's all relative isn't it? Now if you were the fish experiencing that fight for fear of death, pain of the hook maybe in the lip or in the roof of the mouth or even the gullet, twisted up in the line causing cuts all over your body, what's worse to it?
Oh yeah, isn't it true that some of fish that are caught and released die afterwords, even days afterwards? Some from exhaustion, some as prey because they are too worn out to flee, some from damage caused by the hook or the line, etc.?
And you go out with the intention of hurting the fish for your sport and enjoyment and some may die "by accident." And you thrill to the hooking, fighting, landing (read "torturing) the poor fish.
What higher ground are you judging from?

A bullet is a different story. The intent is to immediately kill the animal. The purpose of those wicked looking broadheads is to shred muscles, ligaments, and arteries so the animal will "bleed out". That is cruel no matter how you look at it. If you care about being cruel that is.

Do you weep when one of your fish "accidently" dies?

I'd like to see proof of that.
-I'm not judging the idea of hunting for food and population control. I DON'T HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THAT.
- My beef is with those who pretend this is their motivation, yet their only true concern is putting up the next stuffed head on the wall.

Actually, I do feel a little bad.

Are you a pure vegetarian? If not you are no different from anybody else that eats animal flesh. Killing an animal with a hook in it's mouth is no different than killing one with a bullet. And your comments about catch and release are ridiculous. Think about how the fish feels being pulled out of the water with a hook in it's mouth and then held in somebody's hand for a photo before being thrown back in. Is that similar to torture? Spllitting hairs about the method of killing one or taking pictures of a kill, just shows us your warped sense of values, high level of insecurity and need for attention.
