Re: New gun safe-in an inexpensive way

I bought a champion 35 - Big fire proof gun safe. Did it more for "some" fire protection and to keep my daughter away from them when she gets older. Great for pictures and stamps and coins and other stuff as well.

My Safe Guy says he never gets requests for prettier safes just larger safes - get a big one to begin with!! Prices may semm high but price your collection.

I also have one of those Wal-Mart safes. I’m not to confident in it. I bet someone could pry it open in 10 minutes. I plan I buying a real gun safe but it’s a lot better then nothing.

My goal is slow them way down, cause lots of noise. The expesive safes do that better, but at much more expense. Layers of defense (closet door, safe, trigger guards, ect) should work (IMO).

Re: New gun safe-in an inexpensive way

that looks sweet i am looking right now as we speak for a gun safe. Anybody on here can give me some info on some good affordable safes? Sorry for hijacking your thread man! I have two firearms at my bedside. One is a para ordinance steath warthog and the other is an ar-10. the warthog is also my carry conceal weapon. It is a double stack holds 10 down 1 up of .45acp+p handloads with hornady xtp's!

Word of caution... With the short slide of your warthog, be sure those +P loads are reliable in it... Many times with the +P's the slide moves so fast that the round in the mag can't move up fast enough to be stripped from the mag. It's mainly on pistols with the short slides (less mass = greater slide speed). I had that problem with my Officer's ACP as well...

This walmart safe is just 150$ FOR 14 GUN CAPACITY. Best price. I believe it is not enough for high price guns unless mounted as I did. A well made safe is a better bet if you want to leave the safe visible or want better fire protection. I went the "safe closet route" because a big heavy expensive safe didnt work for my house and plans.
