Re: Where do you keep your gun? What kind? Any tips?
mine is usually somewhere strapped to my body. But sometimes I keep it in the center console.
Florida is pretty relaxed about firearms in a vehicle. All the firearm needs to be is securely encased and not in manual possession. Meaning a snapped holster or soft zipper gun run rug is fine. But not in a snapped holster and in your hands or on your lap (manual possession) If is left open or just thrown under the seat and not securely encased that is 3rd degree felony.

No what I said is fact, that was just the first thing I clicked on when I did the search. You don't have to believe me if you don't want, just trying to give you a friendly warning that some DA's are not playing by the new rules. Go to any search and see for yourself. I don't care if you beleive me, just trying to put out the truth. Maybe you should do a little more research.

I know exactly what the law says, but either you are to lazy to look up the what is acutally happening, or you don't care here is another. READ the whole thing, DA's are instructing cops to arrest and let the courts sort it out. This is FR*AKING wrong, but it is what is happening. http://www.dallasobserver.com/2007-1...n-will-travel/

yeah... I am very familiar with the TX penal code and have studied it greatly. I am also familiar with DA's breaking their oath of office to uphold the law, and cops also breaking their oath claiming they are just following orders. I also know that the TX legislature had to come back and ammend the presumtion clause again to help prevent DAs from ignoring law.
Also, stories like this are twisted and make it sound like criminals are getting away with carrying guns... Newsflash, they are already doing this. As the article points out, "We're letting drug dealers with Glocks under the seat go and say have a nice day. In the past we could have charged them at least with a weapons violation and confiscated the gun." This is just untrue. If they are drug dealers, and they have proof, then arrest them for dealing.... don't let them go...

So then why did you disagree with me when I was just trying to warn people about the over zealous DA's?

That's all I'm saying. I don't rely on what articles claim, as they contain misinformation, just as I pointed out in my previous post.
I just don't want someone giving to much information to a officer in one of these counties and have to go to court to prove he was right. That is a lot of expense, and if asked by a officer if I have a gun I will not answer them.
Re: Where do you keep your gun? What kind? Any tips?
in georgia, with a permit you can keep a handgun anywhere in your truck you please. without one, you can only keep it in your glovebox or console. this is why, except in atlanta where the culture's more like yankee states and few have guns, georgia has so little crime. everybody has a gun. even my mima carries a gun.
i keep a glock 22 .40 cal w/ 3 15rd magazines loaded with winchester ranger hollow-points plus one in the chamber in my glovebox.
but my handgun is just to buy me enough time to get big bertha, my Remington 870 12ga loaded with 6 high-brass 00-buckshot shells, out from under the back seat.
my wife has a s&w .38sp chief's special in her glovebox loaded with +p+ hollow-points.
