Need a new stock for a Marlin Model 60

Hi everyone! I'm sure a lot of you probably have a Marlin .22 since they are so cheap and popular. I've had one since I was 15, it was my first rifle so I'm pretty attached to it. The problem is - a screw holding the trigger guard to the stock fell out and the screw hole wood is ruined. I'd like to get some type of synthetic stock to replace the wood one. Any suggestions? I googled it and found this dragunov style stock. What do you guys think?

Me no likey the Draganov style on any guns. But if it works and you like it thats all that matters!!!! If it were my gun and i felt that partial to it, i would try to locate a better quality stock to preserve its beauty and not just use a plastic stock.

You can always install a screw in type insert and keep useing the stock. HD or Lowes should have what you need. Most places that deal with wood working will have it. Maybe a local hardware store or ACE will have what you need. Might set you back $1 if you buy a pack of 5.

if you like it so much you can always buy a replacement stock from Marlin.

Or you can always an epoxy and glue the trigger gaurd back on.

Re: Need a new stock for a Marlin Model 60

Thanks for the responses guys. It would be a lot cheaper to just fix the screw hole (lol) than to buy a new stock. Hell it's what, about a $80 gun? Kind of dumb to buy a new stock, but I like the modded look.

They run about $110 now for a new one. The stock a lone will cost you that much probably.

Go to www.midwayusa.com and see if they have stock for it.

Ouch! I can't justify spending that much on a new stock. I'm off to the Home depot for a screw insert. I'm going to completely take it down, clean and oil it, and fix the screw insert tonight. I need to clean my Sig Sauer and deer rifle too so I'll just make it gun maintenance night

Thanks again to everyone for the advice, ya'll saved me some money by injecting a lot of common sense and practicality into the equation.
