PA Game Commission proposal

This will only mean something to people hunting in PA... (currently there is a two-week long, rifle, antlered and antlerless season, they are proposing to make several of the current Wildlife Management Unit's (WMU) not hunt doe for the first 5 days of that two week period..)

This would mean that those of us hunting in 2D, 2G, 3C and 4B would not be able to hunt doe for the first 5 days of the two week season.

Being proposed by the PA Game commission:

The only substantial change for the deer hunting seasons is a proposal to
have a 5 day, antlered deer only season in WMU's 2D, 2G, 3C and 4B
starting the Monday after Thanksgiving followed immediately by 7 days
of concurrent, antlered and antlerless deer hunting. The proposal retains
the 2-week (12 day) concurrent, antlered and antlerless season in the
remaining 18 WMUs in the Commonwealth. The change to the four
WMU's is to evaluate the impact of changed season length on hunter
success rates for future use as a new management tool.

^^^From the top of page 6 on this document:

Also a breakdown of the season's on page 11.

What's everyone's thoughts on this???

Re: PA Game Commission proposal

I think its a great thing. I wish my wmu was regulating the does also. I think it would be very benificial if they stopped the doe hunting all togeather for a year or 2. How about we revert back to the old way of just a couple days of doe season.

Re: PA Game Commission proposal

why not just cut back on the amount of doe tags allocated! you would think they would rather have the does shot early than later after they are bred!
