Got this the other week and have been busy using it to clear ground for a new food plot. My other old tractor still runs pretty good but it didn't like the slopes very well. [it wasn't 4 wheel drive]
So far this little tractor is impressing the heck out of me and is doing a great job pulling stumps and roots out of the ground. It even has diff lock on it, which has come in handy already. The implement on the back is called a renovator, it does a great job of tearing new ground up and pulling roots etc out of the ground.
Now all I need is a 16 ft tandem trailer and I can use it to put in some food plots over at my lease.

You had me worried for a second. What kind is it, and what is the horsepower. My next tractor will be a 4X4 with hydrostatic transmission. I could not get along without my tractor.
It's a Yanmar 2220D, 26 HP. Yanmar makes the compact tractors for John Deere. If you look at the engines on the J/D compact tractors you will see a Yanmar engine. Yanmar has been in the diesel business for many, many years and also makes marine engines.
It's not hydrostatic drive but has 15 forward gears and 5 reverse. It has a neat feature called "power shift" you can shift from reverse, neutral, or three forward gears without using the clutch.
I'm still getting the hang of the front end loader, but it sure has come in handy already.
For just having 26 HP it surprises me what it can do. It pulls my disc harrow, box scrape, renovator, and 5ft brush hog with ease. I would love to have a larger tractor but my land is so hilly a larger tractor would be impractical. Plus this one will get in those tight places between trees etc.
I am real familiar with yanmar, they make great engines. The front end loader is the most useful thing I have ever used. I use the front end loader on my tractor all the time. I have a 50 hp massey, but it is only 2wd and I spin the tires alot when I am pulling my box blade, I wish it was 4wd. Mine only has 8 forward and 2 reverse gears. Enjoy the new tractor, I already have almost 150 hours on mine in a year and a half.
lol j/k Nice tractor, does it have the same shifting setup as the JDs? I love that setup, it's spoils me, it's especially awesome when your grading dirt with the boxblade. It sucks to drive the old Massey where you have to use the clutch to shift, but we only use it to mow our pastures which isn't too bad.

Great Looking Tractor, I prefer the power shift to the HST, it allows for faster gear changes. I used a John Deere 410D Back-Hoe while working at the ski resort last year for plowing so much easier than the HST that I use at work. But it is by far much better than the one I have at home with a clutch and 3 speed.

I'm not sure if it has the same set up or not. But if it's a J/D compact tractor it probably does.
By the way all, this is not a new tractor, just new to me. It has less than a thousand hours on it though and I hear these engines can go 10K plus. I've had it for about a month and have used it quite a bit and have only put about 10 hours on it.
My old tractor has a gas engine and man that thing guzzles the gas. I can do twice as much on the "new" tractor for half the fuel.

Thanks for the props on the tractor. Yeah, i'm loving the power shift feature, it's like the best of both worlds. You have the clutch if you need it and can shift on the fly when you want.

Yeah ours has the power shifter, it's like a 50 something series, it's the real JD not the ones with the Yanmar motor. Either way, that's a nice looking tractor TN!
Awesome! My grandfather has a 27hrs JD for sale right now, its about 4-5years old. I don't know alot about them, just that I really want one for the food plots and a piece of land I'm hopefully going to buy here in Ga.
It pulls stumps? Get it loaded up and head this way. We will give it the ultimate stump pulling test in a week or two. Cottonwood tree is only about 4 feet in diameter
It's about time you told everyone about your new tractor...

I think that old Cottonwood tree would be a bit much for "Marvin."
I bet he could lift a pretty good sized Bison though.
