Deer trapped on levee

Here are some neat pics of some deer in Mississippi that are trapped on the levee because of all the rain up north flooding the rivers.

Yeah, I couldn't imagine seeing that many at one time. I would have to show great restraint.

Good to see them in that big of a number.....unless thats the entire population in that area. Saw a nice rack in one of those. Hopefully some idiot wont go out there and play shoot em up.

You guys have some big deer down there, but up around West Virginia area you see this many quite often. It's amazing.

The most I have seen at one time here is 6. But in less than 2 years I killed 2 7, and one 8 point.

Re: Deer trapped on levee

My Uncles' farm is for sale (3000 acres)... On the driveway to the "home" farm in Jan. over the 3/8 mile stretch it's a strange night when you can't count over 120 deer in the 1/4 mile wide valley... We've had a number of deer make "the book" here... The biggest one was shot by my uncle's father-in-law. 238 pounds with everything out, 26 inside spread, 12 points. It was 1-1/2 feet longer than the 7 other 200+ pound deer we got that year. His eyesight was going, so he waited til it stopped at a range of 30 yards! Also it was (at age 75) his first deer! I wish my ex would have left me enough money in our divorce to buy that farm...lol.

LOL....With what she's doing on the few times she's with the kids.....a bit maybe....lol. It's all good though! I can enjoy things much better now. For example, I traded the Furd off for my Titan...
BTW... with that deer.... I was the first person out of 5 to shoot at it.... We are all glad we missed. At his age, and the first time deer hunting.... hell, can it get better? The following year he shot a smaller deer.... 215, but still 12 points. His eyes were bad enough that when he saw 5 deer in a field, he aimed for the biggest one and touched off... He saw the horns when he walked up to it. He's in the happy hunting ground now...

Re: Deer trapped on levee

OK hold the phone, how does the one buck in the first picture allready have antlers. Do deer in Mississippi keep antlers all year round? I would be shocked to see see velvet yet, but rubbed antlers.
