I went through a box and a half tuning the boss with my new ammo, Hornady 150 gr light mag sst's in .30-06. I started with a 3.5" group at 200 yards, and my second to last group was about 3/4" at 200 yards, and the last 2 round group was touching at 200 yards. I haven't sighted in yet, that is why they aren't next to the bullseye, but here are the pics of my last 2 targets.
Thanks, I am going for ear shots now. The old winchester silvertips I was using had awesome knock down power but would not hold better than 1.5 " at 100 yards. That is why I switched, I wanted to do 3 shot groups, but at 31 dollars a box of 20 I decided to try 2 shot groups. I still used 1.5 boxes of ammo, and I am still not sighted in.
I would settle for any amount of land right now as long as it had good game...
That is why I decided to buy a small amount, instead of lease a bigger amount. I fiqured it would give my more time to hunt, and I could manage it the way I wanted.
Thats good shoot'n for sure. A buddy has that BOSS on his browning A-Bolt .338 and and Limbsaver recoil pad, that popper is a real ***** cat to shoot with his hot handloads..
You reload right?? That 30.06 is cake to load for. I can duplicate the Hornady loads for 1/4 the price. I also use a powder that produces less felt recoil and is less tempature sensitive which is great for Florida when its 90+ degrees when I doing all my load testing and hunting when it's cold out.
But and I mean but, I don't hunt with that load. I hunt with a lighter load that is a tad hotter than most factory loads. It is very accurate and I when I load them I load 200 at a time so all my dies are set exactly the same for all rounds. Been useing the same load for 7-8 years.
Another sure'nuff hog stopper for the 30.06 is 200gr Round Nose slugs. They will dig deep and put a pig down fast. I helped a friend do pest control on a sod farm. I was useing the '06 with the RN slugs and he was a .270win with 140gr SP winchesters. Every pig I hit stopped in it's tracks while we had to track 5 of the pigs he hit. We were shooting them at 200yards, one of the ones I shot was 390lbs. We donated all the meat, well most of it. Boy I sure do missing doing that.

Better to have a Titan than a Loose'n

Do you have the A bolt or BAR? I have a 30.06 in the BAR safari grade that consistantly prints 1/2" 3 shot groups @ 100 yds. with Winchester Silvertips. Has anyone had accuracy problems with Remington rifles in the last few years? Me and a couple of friends of mine have had some real lemons; and Remigton claims they are within factory specifications. I'm sorry; but 2.5-3 inch groups at 100 yds. with premium ammo is unacceptable in my book.

I reload all my ammo, except the 06. I have the dies, but it has just been easier to buy factory ammo. I need to get a chrono before I start loading my hunting rounds. I am thinking about loading the barnes 130 gr tipped tsx bullets. They have load data for them pushing over 3300 fps, that is faster than almost all the 300 mags factory loads. I have only had one pig run on me, and that was the one I shot yesterday. I could not get a good shot on him, he was facing away from me, but his head was turned. He was walking away at a pretty good pace and I was trying to hit him just behind the head. Well i hit a little to the right of where I was aiming, and hit him in the gut, and it came out his chest. He only went about 40 yards. All the rest I shot fell and never got back up.

I have a A-bolt composite stalker. I had all the bullets touching at 100 yards, that is why I went to 200 so I could adjust a little better. When they were touching at 200 I fiqured it would not get any better than that.
I have a remington 7400, that is lucky to shoot 2" groups at 100 yards.
I like the federal vital shok nosler partition bullets.....have used them for last few years and have had good luck with them. I use the 115 grain in my 25-06, the 130 grain in 270 short mag, and 160 grain in 7mm short mag. Only down side tho is that are fairly pricey.
