Cool Headers for titan

I HAVE RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2009 TITAN CREW CAB.IT HAS A NISMO COLD AIR INTAKE,NISMO FULL EXHAUST,HYPERTEC PROGRAMMER.THE PROBLEM I HAVE IS THAT THE NEW SET OF NISMO HEADERS KEEPS SETTING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT.I WAS TOLD IT WAS BECAUSE THE 02 SENSORS ARE READING AT THE SAME TIME.NEED TO FIND OUT TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING.THANKS

Re: Headers for titan

First of all, take off the caps keys as you are yelling.

Search is your friend.

So, you are saying you have Nismo Long Tube headers? IF so, you could be running really lean and not getting everything out of your mods. Get rid of the Hypertech and get Uprev.
The problem is that your o2 sensors are in front of you secondary set of CATs. With longtube headers the first set of CATs are removed and now your o2 sensors are reading incorrectly. You will have to extend your o2 sensors behind your secondary CATs. And in order to do so you will need to get new CATs with the pung on the back side.

Re: Headers for titan

You could have a muffler shop weld in some 02 bungs behind your rear cats instead of buying new ones. But what layer1 said was correct. If you are installing LT headers, you are getting rid of the set of cats that the 02 sensors are reading. Now the 02 sensors are reading uncleaned air straight out of the engine instead of "cleaned air" that has passed through cats. If you look under your truck, look at you cats, then look a little bit in front of them will be some sensors screwed into the pipes (b-pipes)...those need to be moved behind the cats. Although you don't need HF cats to fix the problem, I would recommend them so you can get more performance and a higher quality cat. Also, yes Uprev is a very good idea

Re: Headers for titan

No Uprev is custom tuning, the hypertech, BD, and SC are handhelds with set tunes that everyone gets. With Uprev you can get your Air/Fuel ratio (AFR) adjusted to its maximum power producing potential while also keeping your engine from running lean whish is not healthy for the motor. Your AFR can change faily dractically running headers,a nd its good to get custom tuned for them.

Re: Headers for titan

Go to UpRev - Engine Management and look at Osiris Standard software. Prices were just lowered. Everything UpRev does, is through a USB to OBDII Cable and using a Laptop to run the software to flash the truck. They can supply a base tune for you, based on current mods. You can run some 0-60 mph runs and log your trucks performance with the Cipher software that is included in the Osiris purchase. They will look at those logs, and customize your tune for you to reflash. Consequently, it works far better than the hand helds ever could. It is much more sophisticated. You can also have up to 5 different tunes loaded in your trucks memory at once, and simply select which one you want, by using the cruise controls. You do not lose cruise functions, nor need the laptop with you. It appears you like performance, so you will like Uprev!

The hole thing started with this 09 as a sales managers dimo and he is a performance junkey. The sales manager is a good friend. The Nissan dealership was getting ready to change hands and the truck had to go or all the performance equipment and leveling kit was going to have to come off.He made me a deal i could not walk away from.I had a 05 before the 09.This bad boy has black metalic paint, nav system, leather, factory wheels painted black to match the truck.***** to keep clean but sweet ride.

Re: Headers for titan

ok so the uprev is a reflash to the ecu? but for a mostly stock engine is not worth it. migth as well install a APEX NEO.

uhhh no - you log data from your engine, send that data to UPRev and they adjust the parameters for your vehicle based only on the exact data from your vehicle.

Not some "generic" tune that works for all...

Re: Headers for titan

or if you want to save the whole getting a cat thing, go to your local auto parts store and get spark-plug anti foulers that are threaded for your o2 bung. get two for each o2 sensor. install them into the o2 bungs and then screw in your o2 sensors. its worked for me everytime.
