I finally got to take the T to the track last night. I have searched the forum up and down and cant find the answer to my question.. I cant find a vdc switch in my truck so i assume i dont have vdc..so why is it when i got to the water box, when i floored it, engine power would hit and release..I did not use the brake, rolled up and floored it, and i couldnt get a steady burn.
my best time was a 14.8 with a r/t of .16x.. I know with the mods i have, i should have gotten better times..So if i cant even burn through the water box, is my truck losing power coming off the line due to wheel spin???
Some of you guys are in the high to mid 13's with similiar mods?!?!?!?! What am i doing wrong? Thanks ahead for input.

Are you stalling your truck at launch? The engine will cut power to the wheels when it senses the tires slipping....Before I did the burnout mod, I was in the same boat as you. I had TT as well, so a lot of times I couldn't even burnout at all. I've gotten my best times with out any tire slip, but some say a good short quick "chirp" during take off is the best. Usually when you spin, your ET is worse but your MPH is higher
yes i stalled
but even when i just gunned it,i spun!!! no matter what i do i spin unless i just roll out like i would at a stop sign..
what i dont get is when i was at the water box. no brake just floored it and the engine would hit and miss. i couldnt so a staedy burn..i used to have a tahoe with an anti slip button, if the road was wet, it would do the same as my t. but if you disabled the anti slip, you could burn forever..
iv got to bypass this somehow

Yeah give that a try, launching actually does take some skill on these trucks once you get some power mods. I stall to about 1500-2000K only for about 1.5 seconds. Then at Launch I let off the brake and slap the accelerator down about 2/3 of the way, and am at WOT in less than 1 second....I'm going to see what slicks will do this Winter...TT is very important, its too bad they aren't out for the 08+
Yes, our anti-slip traction control will not allow a steady spin. I would assume that hurts et's at the track. There is a whole thread about bypassing that.

i will give your way a shot.. I know it is alot harder to get a good launch than what people give credit for..

I'm not sure how to answer your question cause my truck has never done this. Even before superchips I never had a problem doing a burnout. And everyone has there own way of launching and it's not that easy to figure out. The most important part is PRACTICE!! and find out what is right for you and your truck. I have a car at the track every other week if not every week but I have a friend that will tree me almost every time. He is currently #3 in pro points at Summit motorsports park in Norwalk, Ohio in his Camaro though lol. Good luck though man. I'm sure you'll figure it out

Yes practice is honestly the way to go. I've always practiced one thing at a time. I didn't start stalling my truck really until after I got headers. First I practiced where to stall at by the sound (cause I always look at the tree and don't pay attention to my RPM's), Then I practiced how far to push the pedal on take-off (different for different weather), then I practiced it all together. I have pulled 1.92 and 1.94 60's times on stock tires in cold weather at night (less traction)...When I'm practicing how to launch, I don't even care about my R/T. I have to focus on one thing at a time, if I try to focus on everything it gets a little overwhelming to do all in 2 seconds. First practice launch and screw R/T's. My next few times out I have to practice my R/T's now that I got the launch down. Friggin Pinoytitan always kills me on the tree

Good advice man. I know at the tracks around here they all have a day during the week that you can do time trials and then bracket race. I normally go on Wednesdays and its like $12. Most times you only get 1 warm up run though cause most of the time there is 250-500 cars there. Normally I can hit around a .01 bulb but for bracket racing I don't even try cause A LOT of the time I'll go red in the second or third round lol. (went red 3 weeks in a row in the second round by .005 or less and got pissed!!!). So normally I just bag about .3-.5, leave on the 3rd bulb, and play with the people I'm racing. AKA drag the brakes and/or rip the throttle (which makes people really mad lol)

yeah I am unfortunately a .1-.2 guy...I need to be a .0-.1 guy
Really you don't need to be since rt and et are different. If both people are right on their dial it comes down to the RT. So the RT can just give you an edge or a deficit. Thats why you put up a dial that is a few tenths higher than what your street car can actually run so you can overcome a bad RT and/or don't have to risk going red. The only thing is if your chasing a lot of times you'll come around the other car at around 330' or so. So you have to learn to "rip" the throttle or "drag" the brakes at the line or while your going down the track. But if you do that you have to keep their front wheel on your front quarter panel to avoid a breakout. It's all risky and takes practice. I'm still learning but like I said I have friends that are teaching me lol, and are willing to ride with me in practice. Last wednesday I came in second in my class. I was -.002 on my dial and the guy I raced was +.001 lol. It was really a .017 gap at the strip cause my RT was .014 better than his but he had 15 mph on me at the line so it was hard to judge my brakes lol. But I felt pretty accomplished going 5 rounds though in a dodge lol. Wish it was the T but that will be after the jba and axle seal gets fixed on monday

Yeah ET isn't effected by R/T, but its still good to be good at. Pinoytitan usually runs a fw hundreths (lol) slower than me, but he always beats me to the end of the 1/4 cause he gets me on R/T...I have def won some races on R/T, but also have lost some...Thats why i picked it last to practice on, cause it didn't make a difference in 1/4 mile times, and I just wanted a 13 lol
