I think most of the people on here are qualified for the position. With the number of new people coming in to Titan Talk, I feel there should be about 20 mods here and they take turns "watching" over everything so they don't get burned out. At one point, I would have taken the job, But i am not on here as much as I used to be. Motorcycles have taken priority in my life for now... Until it gets cold again!
My nominee's:
Sammy
Squid
Wedgie
Havock
Logic
Tortuga
Best at Chess
Bow Hunter
Thats all I can think of for now...
Adam

I look forward to your job interview . . . . .

And it was shared with Bayou Titan, rrumaner and Castrol.

People, I appreciate that you want to acknowledge each other for your contributions, that is a very good thing to do. It makes people understand that what they do and say is really appreciated.

However, being a moderator is mostly a thankless job that requires a lot of time and involves mundane tasks like moving threads to the appropriate forum.

More often than you may think, we get forced to step in and make decisions that make people very unhappy. Unhappy to the point that you become subject to personal attacks and insults.

So unless you have a very thick skin, don't rile easily and can make fair and reasonable judgment calls that people will second guess and criticize, this job may not be how you wish to be "recognized."

If you still want the job, you will need to explain why, so be prepared because you will be asked before decisions finally are made.

I also hope that those who are not "chosen" will not take that as a personal critique of their value to this site because it would not be a true reading of how we all think about this process. Also just because you were not chosen "now" doesn't mean TitanTalk won't need to add someone like you later. Moderators don't last forever you know.

Good luck to everyone who has stepped up to be considered.

37L1

I'm still holding out for admorris or the guy with the 50k XE Titan.

Folks, 37L1 is more than qualified to be a moderator. I know what he does in his real life (I won't say either) and enjoyed meeting him and spending the good part of a day with him at the Truckfest here in sunny California in March.

He spends an enormous amount of time behind the scenes here at TT that we don't know about and like he said its a Thankless job.

I didn't chime in on the where is Lon thread but I'm truly thankful that he's still here. If he were to leave everyone here at TT would suffer a big loss.

Good luck to those applying for the mod job but do realize its a lot of work for little glamour.

Mods are easier to pick over at the Ford forum. He whose truck has not burned up gets the job. Here we look for dedicated, intelectual, friendly, open 24 hours a day, courteous and folks with super communication skills. Arse kissing will land you the job, but the other items are nice fodder. I think this is a little like electing a new president for Cuba, you go through the motions but the ballots have already been counted.

The ability to spell also helps a lot.

Mods should not be picked by who makes the most posts or who makes the least posts. A good moderator is not picked by being one of the " good old boys ". Being a moderator is a thankless job and can only be done by some one who can stand back and make decisions based on fairness and not whose name is the most popular. TT mods have been able to do that so far and we need to find some one who can continue to be fair and honest.

I could and would not be a mod because I get too involved in some discussions and probably would be biased in some cases, even though I tried not to.

So, like the election of the pope, let the smoke roll. Some one asked a question on the Ford forum about who they thought would be the next Pope. One guy answered, " I hope the catholics don't get him again, they have had him long enough ".

i think some people have blown this thing WAY outta perportion. It is moderater for a web forum not choose J**K*SS of the year award. I am serious that some of the people of been nominated have turned into total jerks. but maybe this is the wrong place for this unseriousness.
