Agreed. Now I'm going to have to memorize everyone's avatar so I can recognize their posts when I'm scrolling through a page at a high rate of speed. That's gonna be tough when we've got folks like Tortuga who change their avatar so often I can't keep up.
I have modified the forum to ONLY show the signature ONCE per page. So, there's another small update.
How about offering the option to show your sig on every post as a feature for premium members? Or make it so that the user has to manually click the box in the Miscellaneous Options panel (reverse the default to unchecked). I notice that the default for "Disable smilies in text" is unchecked, so couldn't the sig box be set the same way?
Everyone wants titantalk to run smoothly, and make it possible for more members to participate. I'm OK with whatever is best for the site, but I thought I'd just through this idea out there.
Here are some simple technical questions regarding this new policy:
How does this save on bandwidth? A sig image is downloaded once per page and the pulled from the temp internet files for each subsequent sig listing. So only showing the sig once per page eats as much bandwidth as showing it 50 times per page. Keeping the size smaller does save TT bandwidth if the image is hosted on TT, but not if it is hosted elsewhere.
I used to be proud that TT had good sig rules that we friendly and fun.
