I own an '04 Titan that I bought in September '04. The truck is awesome! Yea, I've had the brake problems, the ticking sound under the dash (which this site helped me fix!), and my rearend will be replaced next week, but I knew buying the first year model things would happen. I now have 33,000 miles on my truck and still get a sh!t eating grin whenever I get on the gas! I agree with the other guy in this long thread that the Tundra is ugly. It is. The Titan stands out from the crowd!!
I owned a '97 Chevy Z71 and the transmission went out at 96,000 miles. I have numerous friends who own/have owned the 1/2 ton Dodge Ram and hate the truck! The interior is bland! Plus, I have met only a handful of Ram owners who have not experienced transmission problems.
Yes, I am a dedicated Nissan man, but for good reason. I put 188,000 miles on my '93 Pathfinder, sold it to a local guy, and still see the Pathfinder from time to time around town. It now has over 260,000 miles on it and all he's done since buying it is replace the rear main seal.
Sure the Titan doesn't have 1,233 different engine/tranny/cab configurations like the American trucks, but why would they? If you roll out a new product you don't invest millions in transmissions and engines and cab styles until you see how the public embraces the product. I can say that in Georgia we have embraced the Titan (of course 1/5 of the vehicles on our roads are trucks!). The Titan was not aimed at the 2500 HDs or Ram 3500s upon initial rollout. It went straight for the jugular of the 1/2 tons - the Z71, F150, Ram 1500, Tundra. It was not targeting the construction arena.
The Titan is a top notch truck. It's not perfect, but neither is any other auto maker. My wife drives a 2004 Lexus and that damn thing has been in the shop twice as much as my truck (but they do provide a loaner ALL the time

) . I'd buy another Titan and not think twice about it!
