I had the same experance with the dealer I went too.. Few problems was givin a loaner every time... most ploblems I think people have is with a Bad dealership! I bought a dodge truck new in 94 and every problem I had could never be fixed!! Dodge = very cheap! don't compare the Titan with a cheap a$$ dodge!!

Re: Nissan Committed To Titan Despite Missing Sales Target

I gotta say as the owner of a 2004 Titan and a 2005 Armada my local dealership is great. Got the brake job done on both while I waited. Super great guys. However, I took my 2000 Mustang GT to the local Ford dealership to replace the brakes (too cold to do it myself) and guess what they ruined the ABS system (still don't know how)I could park the car on the face of a cliff and it would not move. They refused to take responsibilty and I ended up paying almost 1500 bucks somewhere else to get it right. I have rambled but my point is there are SH!@#Y techs and service managers regardless of the badge on their dealership. I love my nissan's and will stick with them.

Re: Nissan Committed To Titan Despite Missing Sales Target

Had to go all the way to the end of this to add my two cents so I hope someone sees it at least... I understand everyones complaints and praise and wish you all well either way but can we stop talking about the Toyota as if it will in any way compete with the Titan, IMO the toyota is an ugly turd and will remain an ugly turd judging from some of the spy photos in the usual mags. Used to be strictly a Chevy guy until they stopped designing in 1990 and just kept rounding the edges off, the truck is a block of crap as far looks go...so I went to Ford they tried something new and I for one liked it but now they are copying the chevy plan, make it more square and ugly looking, they'll still buy it, as for Dodge just don't like the way they look. As you can tell I buy based on large part on looks and Titan wins, wins big, hands down, no comparison, every car...even the likes of Mercedes has problems, the question is...do you love finding it in the parking lot? and question 2, do you see Ford,Chevy,Dodge,Toyata drivers looking at your truck at stoplights, cuz I do.

Just to let you know the current Tundra is outselling the Titan by 1/4. I believe Toyota sold around 126,000 Tundra's last year and Nissan sold around 86,000 Titan. Just an observation.

I too owned a Titan and loved it. The gas mpg and not really needing a truck right now made my mind up to trade her. No problems just something I felt I had to do. Good luck w/your Titan. You'll love it.

How is that 1:4? Looks like about 50% more not 400%. Anyways, Toyota has had thier foot in the door for a few more years than the Titan, and Nissan for some reason has always been the odd child in the japanese imports. I don't mean that in a bad way. Nissan puts more design into thier cars and the general public buys bland (honda/toyota.) So, I would say that those numbers are pretty strong for breaking into the Big 3 and little T truck market.

Re: Nissan Committed To Titan Despite Missing Sales Target

I own an '04 Titan that I bought in September '04. The truck is awesome! Yea, I've had the brake problems, the ticking sound under the dash (which this site helped me fix!), and my rearend will be replaced next week, but I knew buying the first year model things would happen. I now have 33,000 miles on my truck and still get a sh!t eating grin whenever I get on the gas! I agree with the other guy in this long thread that the Tundra is ugly. It is. The Titan stands out from the crowd!!

I owned a '97 Chevy Z71 and the transmission went out at 96,000 miles. I have numerous friends who own/have owned the 1/2 ton Dodge Ram and hate the truck! The interior is bland! Plus, I have met only a handful of Ram owners who have not experienced transmission problems.

Yes, I am a dedicated Nissan man, but for good reason. I put 188,000 miles on my '93 Pathfinder, sold it to a local guy, and still see the Pathfinder from time to time around town. It now has over 260,000 miles on it and all he's done since buying it is replace the rear main seal.

Sure the Titan doesn't have 1,233 different engine/tranny/cab configurations like the American trucks, but why would they? If you roll out a new product you don't invest millions in transmissions and engines and cab styles until you see how the public embraces the product. I can say that in Georgia we have embraced the Titan (of course 1/5 of the vehicles on our roads are trucks!). The Titan was not aimed at the 2500 HDs or Ram 3500s upon initial rollout. It went straight for the jugular of the 1/2 tons - the Z71, F150, Ram 1500, Tundra. It was not targeting the construction arena.

The Titan is a top notch truck. It's not perfect, but neither is any other auto maker. My wife drives a 2004 Lexus and that damn thing has been in the shop twice as much as my truck (but they do provide a loaner ALL the time ) . I'd buy another Titan and not think twice about it!

Re: Nissan Committed To Titan Despite Missing Sales Target

My 2004 Titan hasn't had any real problems yet, just the trailer harness and one electric switch fix for the rear passenger side window. I read about a lot of problems others are having but I guess I feel lucky. So far, great service from the dealer in Olympia, WA and a great truck to drive, now close to 25000miles.
