Cool Re: Nissan may offer diesel Titan

If Nissan goes with a diesel offer, the only thing that matters to me after reliability (quality) is pulling and tow power. It must match or exceed the comparable class trucks. A really nice truck that pulls 1000 pounds less than say a comparable F-250 Ford diesel will not be of interest.

As for now, I was just browsing trucks and about to buy an F-150 when I climbed into my Nissan XE with the 9400 pound tow package with few optinons, and it was like I had come home. Took it home that day. Love it. Wonderful drive. If it does as well as the other Nissans other friends and family have owned, I will be driving one for life - if they offer a good diesel which I will want in four to five years.

From what I'm hearing from work, we've been talking to International for the diesel for the LCV, which may roll over to the Titan and Armada.

An international diesel would be cool. What is the LCV? I assume you work at the Titan factory, any other rumors or news would be cool to hear about.

LCV--Light-Duty Commercial Vehicle, or econo work vans, similar to what UPS and Fedex are using for deliveries other than the big tradition trucks. Dodge has one like this, except they are using a small Cummins diesel, I think.

For a neet read test on the Nissan Navara (Frontier) go the following link:

honestjohn.co.uk/road_tests/index.htm?id=191

Here are the specs from the article:
I couldn't get to my dealer fast enough if these were for sale here! Think what a beast this would be with a chip and exhaust!

2.5 litre 2,488cc common rail direct injected diesel: 128kW (174PS/171.6bhp) at 4,000rpm; 403Nm (297 lb ft) torque at 2,000rpm.

2.5 diesel 4-speed manual: 0-60 10.5 seconds; top speed 105 mph; combined mpg: 33.2; CO2 emissions: 226g/km.

2.5 diesel 5-speed automatic: 0-60 11.2 seconds; top speed 105 mph; combined mpg: 30.7; CO2 emissions: 245g/km

Re: Nissan may offer diesel Titan

Haha good luck with Internationals products besides this is old news. Anyone hear about fords powerstroke 6.0 yeah ford is suing Navistar for the warrenty work ford had to put up with mostly 03-04 was the hard years with mostly blown head gaskets due to their weak and defected head studs and they also had problems with the injectors and turbo's through out the years. Since ford had made their new 6.4 powerstroke (same block as the 6.0) they are having some problems with leaky injectors its not a big step up. Ford is planing on making their own diesel in 2010, but Navistar is contracted with them until 2012. So if Ford couldn't get money from Navistar from suing them they just took the 6.4s engines delivered from Navistar to Ford with out paying Navistar for the engines. This caused Navistar to sure Ford for trying to avoid the contract and not paying for their engines. Well point is Navistar would not be a ideal motor in a pickup for reliability and durability. But yet again Ford did rush Navistar ford the 6.0 to come out in 2003 with hardly any of the proper testing needed to be done to it before being released.

This is really sad. I hope you have better command of the English Language than we can see in this post. Have you ever heard of a spell checker? With skills like this, I believe you need to practice one phrase very well. “Do you want fries with that”?

Re: Nissan may offer diesel Titan

I have been following these deisel threads for a little while now... I have an 06 titan SE now and I am pulling an 8000 pound fifth wheel and while it definately works, I am hoping to upgrade to a diesel pretty quickly... so any official word... is there a chance of a titan diesel in the next couple of years or is it a dead issue????

Re: Nissan may offer diesel Titan

You can dog blacksmokey for his grammar but the content is spot on. If Nissan goes with the Navistar v8 diesel its not a reach to say the hole adventure will be a complete catastrophe. Its bad when their product can't even live up to Fords quality control. Why Nissan would jump into bed with Navistar is rather baffling, but seems to be the direction they are going. My next truck will be a diesel, unless Toyota or Nissan comes out with a competitive inline 6 diesel engine, my next truck will be Cummins powered. Go big or go home, if the current offering of diesel engines were beer, the Cummins would be a Guiness, duramax a bud light, and the powerstroke(navistar) would be a michelob ultra. I'd go thirsty before drinking a mich ultra. Come on Nissan, you can do better then this.

Re: Nissan may offer diesel Titan

I believe part of the Navistar/Ford issue is Fords defective wiring harness and ECU not talking to the Navistar. It was tested and Navistar asked Ford to fix the harness... Ford said "F YOU"

I'm not sure about the injector or turbo issues, but I'm sure they are outsourced to suppliers.

the 7.3L powerstroke was my personal favorite.... i went online for fun to price out one my old boss had.. still getting 8-10k for a 7.3L turbo/5 speed manual.

Yeah they did have some cases with the turbos and injectors but wasn't a major issue with all of them thats just another thing that usually went out on them "sometimes". And dude I agree with you to the highest level I loved the 7.3s good ol reliable engine.

Spell check can't do anything when you leave words out. Are we supposed to guess what the hell you are trying to say?

Try to proofread and give us a break.
