Wondered if any of the NE guys are heavily into offroading? My CC Titan would be kind of a Trail Whale, but I do have a freshly paid off Tacoma!
I've cruised the trails in Wharton and Lebanon State forests in NJ, and also a little light off-roading at Paragon. http://www.paragonap.com
Mainly ride dirt bikes off-road, so doing it a truck seems kind of slow paced. Still would like to find some good spots in NJ and PA, up to about 3 hours from Philly.
Chief here. I've been to Paragon a few times with the bike. It's just less than an hour south of me. Can't imagine doing Paragon with the new truck. It's a great spot, maybe there are some decent wider trails for the truck I haven't seen.
I'll probably get around to doing it a bit locally, but it's mostly short stuff or private.
Always fun to see people on a paved road slow down to watch you come down an ungodly hill back into 'creatureville'
Some other good spots to hit on the bike are Rausch Creek & Tower City.
The Ashley exit off 81 had some great 4X4 trails on it. I'm sure it's not designated though.
Maybe We'd meet up someday either on the bikes or in the trucks.
hey chief, you know what else is really fun? "coming down an ungodly hill back into 'creatureville'", to find out a NJ state trooper sitting there waiting for you and by just the look on his face, you know you're f*****. hahahah happened to a friend of mine and got 4 tickets. they had a local fav. spot but wasn't legal. this goes back to the whole issue of people in charge in NJ being bunch of tightasses. and yes TOK, i still love it..lol.. But im sure they are places that would be somewhat legal or private.. I'm 20 minutes away from lebanon.

Can't do that to a lease vehicle now..it sucks..but what r u gonna do.. maybe in 4 years or when i get another truck, i'll join u guys.

Its a 99 Standard Cab 4x4 with the mighty 2.7. Not ready to make it a dedicated trail rig yet, but now that I have the Titan I'm also not worried as much about it.
Cheif, Paragon is brutal. We took the bikes on one of the "guide only" designated truck trails (there was nobody out there that day), and it started out pretty easy. Before long it became a boulder field where you literally had to ride rock to rock without touching the ground. My buddy and I both had our XR400's with dual sport kits on them, they're kind of heavy and neither us or the bikes were up to making that trail! We ended up basically dragging the bikes back to where we could ride again. I wouldn't drive a truck on a trail like that unless I brought it in on a trailer!
If you're ever up for some easy trails in your truck, the Wharton and Lebanon State Forests in Jersey are great. Lots of sand access roads, some decent puddles, but nothing overly nasty. Its all sand. You'd just have to watch for branch scratches on the sides of the Titan, and have to be prepared to back your truck up a long way if one of the trails dead-ends. The main access roads are as wide as regular streets and all packed sand.
I'll drop you a PM about Paragon and other places we ride tonight. I have to head out to work.

Well, it's no Xtracab, but at least it's not a four door. I took my 2000 offroad all the time. Those 99-00 Tacomas are beasts of the offroad.

When I got the truck, I couldn't afford the TRD. 4 wheel drive with the electric locker is an awesome setup. I'll definitely keep the Toyota till it dies.
I bought it after looking at the 96 of a guy I work with. He was a contractor travelling all over the country, and had just over 200,000 miles on it in 99 and was still driving thousands upon thousands of miles per month. Had 275,000 on it last time I talked to him, he's out on the West Coast somewhere now.
The 2.7 doesn't have a lot of balls, but it sure lasts!

Now That's Funny!!! (sounds like me)
TOK,
that rock trail sounds familiar. It goes downhill until you figure out you shouldn't really be there, by that time it's uphill BOTH WAYS!!!!! I had to replace my pipe from one of those.
Also one of those State Forests, I think I was there before. Camping back in the 80's. It was a beautiful sandy place, real deep sand on the roads, and very thick vegetation. One of my buds had a newer tacoma and some rode in the bed as we picked firewood. Nice memories. Too bad I don't remember where it was. I'd like to go back. The place I was at had little brown lizards (you might like this lizard king ) and they were too fast to catch. I'm going to have to do a little researching to see where exactly It was.
