Re: Charm City Titans

The cure is a Tune. I think by April, we will be doing something big. It is the fly by wire throttle that you are feeling. UpRev eliminates the computer altering your foots input.

Big Rob, I think Blue hit the nail right on the head with the "drive by wire" and the ECU altering what your foot wants the truck to do. I think its the same as the truck not allowing you to powerbrake a good burnout. You can beat it to some degree byt letting the truck kind of creep alittle with your foot off the brake. I found out how easy that was on my way home from Dundalk Sat night. I smoked one of those retired police Caprices on my way to 695 and did it with wild smokey burnout when I nailed it on the green....

One other thing to consider is right now in our area we are stuck with Oxygenated gas which does rob some power/mileage. You could be feeling that also?

An Uprev tune will solve that. I'm still looking at the Cobb tuner as well and talking to friend here with an STI with one of Cobbs programers. It seems very versatile from what I've seen to this point. I like the fact that I can change the tune and scan fault codes as well. Still learnig about it though but, I like what I see so far. Point and click stuff is good.

More to follow and I will be at NOPI also. Maybe we should see if we can a couple of Titans from the club out here for that? Something to kick around I guess?

Steve

Re: Charm City Titans

Hey Guys,

Is there a simple little adjustment to help the Titan get better mileage? When I first got it I got 11 mpg now I get 12.5 city and maybe 16.5 hwy.
If not I'm going to have to get rid of it.

Let me know if you have a solution!

Re: Charm City Titans

Sue,
How many miles are one your truck? I have around 33K on mine. I get about
15mpg. I didn't notice the change until around 25k or so. You can try some other things as well. Check your tire pressure, low pressure does not help. Check you air filter make sure that it is clean. A dirty air filter will drop the mpg. Switch to synthetic oil I had some improvement when I switched. You could install an intake. That may make a difference. Good luck. If you have any questions let us know. Try to drive a little slower thats is the hardest thing to do with these trucks. Big Dog whats up? Hope all is well.

Joe

Re: Charm City Titans

On all my vehicles, I seem to lose 1 or 2 mpg in winter. Tire pressure needs checked due to the cold (100 degree dropping to 20 degrees causes significant loss). The winter fuelmix gets blamed, but I don't know if it is real or urban legend. Though 10% alcohol will probably hurt mpg, as we now see 85% giving losey (sp?) mileage with the FFV. It is mixed for emissions reasons.

I was getting 15-1/2 suburban driving to work about 12 miless and to do shopping. Now I get 13 or 13-1/2 in winter. I've gotten as much as 19 mpg highway in the summer with 4 of us and lots of luggage on vacation, while driving a steady 85 mph, And I have the BT! I am convinced the Mods helpedwith efficiency.

Re: Charm City Titans

I can't go any slower guys. I have to drive from Dundalk to Mt. Vernon through the city. I get better mileage when I'm doing the highway. I'm over 27K in miles. As for tire pressure the alarm hasn't gone off so I guess the tires are OK. Maybe I'll check the air filter when it warms up.

I got better mileage when I first got it and towed a 24' boat down to the ocean than I do dity driving.

Rob you can keep your illness to yourself! We don't want to share. Hope your feeling better.

Re: Charm City Titans

Your mileage makes sense. Even though a boat is bulky, you can get surprising mileage on steady highway driving. Dundalk to Mt Vernon would be bad, expect 2-4 less than city rating. Nothing really wrong with your truck it seems, just heavy and slow driving in winter. Do check tires with a gauge, sensors are just an emergency backup system. Come to the next CCT meet and I'll hook up the Cipher to check A/F if I know the right category (there's a bunch) and ensure no codes have shown anywhere. I manage a fleet of trucks, your getting typical results I think. Summer will improve it.

It's good to hear from you again. Did you ever get the DuHu Storage unit?

Still havent got my truck back from the dealer. Its supposed to be ready tomorrow? I only hope I get it back before the snow on Tuesday.

I'm in on the 24th also. I should have everything done on it by then to include the Uprev tune and the rear drop.

See you there.
