California Dreamin' Tax, when will your State withhold more from you?

If Arnold keeps this up, even the Mexicans who don't already live in California will revolt, lol.

Re: California Dreamin' Tax, when will your State withhold more from you?

I can't tell you how bad I've had it here in Kali-fornia! From Arnold raising the DMV registration back up to my outrageous property tax which was suppose to pay for my kids schooling and doesn't even cover there supplies anymore to loosing my job in 08 to now this 10% hike this state went from the best to the worst! California just a few years ago went from being the 7th richest country, yes I said country to one of the most bankrupt states in the Union... what gives. With all of these taxes, more people will leave including companies that won't want to stay and pay.

Socialism for the wealthy, the government and the poor while the middle and working classes are practicing capitalism isn't working out too well for many folks but hopefully things will look up for you.

Re: California Dreamin' Tax, when will your State withhold more from you?

California was riding on borrowed time for awhile regarding where the money was coming from and in 2007 when it tanked.

California's has a high capital-gains tax base that anchored the state's revenues for decades.

All the rich folks out there (the top 1% of taxpayers) generated over 40% of tax revenues; 250,000 people have done the heavy lifting for a state of 36 million.

Since 1994 and up until 2007, this top-heavy tax system flourished (which is why we like taxing the wealthier people because it's money!), it was a bull market.

At some point, that level of growth allowed the state to collect over $25 billion of capital gains-driven taxes annually.

Then in 2007, those investments have soured, and losses have created tax shelters that will offset 80% of those capital gains taxes for the next five years.

It was a tree that was bearing fruit and there didn't seem to be a reason to not use it until the money stream dried up.

Now they are taxing everyone on everything to keep the basic services going.

It is not a socialist issue.

I hope you find a job soon.

Yes it is a social issue. If the state was not handing out money to all the worthless people than it would not need to tax at a high rate. If people want to give their money to others fine, but the government should not take and redistribute it. And that is exactly what is happening all over the country, but especially in California, and all the other liberal bankrupt states.

Furthermore, the average middle class citizen pays far more in taxes than they might realize and considering all the miscellaneous taxes out there, people are being robbed blind while their paychecks shrink due to there hours or wages being cut and then of course there is the biggest hidden tax of all, inflation, which is eating the money we do have at a quite alarming rate.

I just paid 3.29 for a bottle of F*cking tomato juice at the Winn Dixie last night and if the Federal Government keeps printing money, that same bottle of juice will be 5.29 by the end of next year but you can bet that your paycheck won't reflect the higher cost of living.

Something has got to give and if the Federal Government keeps raping the average citizen through the hidden tax of inflation, I may be squeezing more than just my own tomatoes.

It's already giving to some degree and this is right by where my wife's office is and although she doesn't go there often, when she does she is armed with a .357.

I told her F*ck IBM's rules, carry that pistol inside and keep it handy if you have to go into the office because no security guard making minimum wage and armed with nothing but a Billy Club is going to save your azz from an armed and disgruntled employee bent on revenge but a bullet or 6 fired in his general direction will persuade him to look in a different cubicle for easier game.

Yeah, I have been watching that. Carrying in an unauthorized place is just a misdemeanor, no big deal if you get caught.

I didn't realize that and it's certainly good to know but when she asked me what would happen if she got caught carrying, I told her I didn't know but it couldn't be any worse than getting shot or killed because some azzhole decided to kill a bunch of their former coworkers indiscriminately due to the fact that their life sucks and misery happens to love company.

Yep no worse than any other misdemeanor. I carried all the time during Mardi Gras, and that is illegal. Screw them I don't follow any laws I don't agree with, if I get caught oh well.

I have a nephew that went to work for the Ventura County Sherriff Dept when he was 21, he is now nearing 50. After 33.3 years of service (54 years of age) he is eligible to retire at full pay, full benefits, and will get any raises that the Dept gets. Fire Dept gets the same thing, see why they are broke.
It is not the police or firemen's fault, this is what the politictions promised them.
