Anybody have a link?

The dealer we got the Rogue from does a lifetime powertrain warranty included in the price (not negotiable). So I should be in the clear either way. Of course, I probably voided it by changing my own oil..
The problems were with 2003s, the warranty is for all cvts to help boost customer confidence.

Re: Nissan doubles warranty on CVT

We have been seeing all year models in the shop for the cvt failures. The sentra cvts are about 2000.00 the murano is about 5000.00+. Nissan has come out with a reman cvt for the sentra & some others that dropped the price alot.

I was mostly being facetious.

What fails specifically? They are a rather simple system from a mechanical standpoint?

Re: Nissan doubles warranty on CVT

For the Muranos, I don't think it's just the 2003 models affected.

Mine were internal sensors. My transmission blew going uphill on the freeway... Scary moment. Another scary moment was when I was making a left turn on an intersection... What looked like a safe pass turned freaky when my Mo moved 1 MPH with two coming head on. I never felt safe after that. So I traded it in for the T.

Re: Nissan doubles warranty on CVT

Alright, we just got the letter today.

Scary to think what would happen if it did fail while I was driving.

It's a fancy chain I think.

Re: Nissan doubles warranty on CVT

Too bad Nissan didn't double the warranty on:

Rear Differential
Front Differential
Radiators

And various other common issues on this truck.

Re: Nissan doubles warranty on CVT

That's cool that they extended the warranty on all cvt's. I have an 07 Altima and the cvt was my main concern since it has around 44k on it now and woulda been out of warranty soon. However I will never buy another cvt equipped car again.

Re: Nissan doubles warranty on CVT

I suppose it's a good thing that they're doing this. My brother's Maxima has the CVT. I hate CVT because it always feels like it wants to do the braking for me. I prefer gears simply because I can judge exactly how to push the vehicle to pick the right RPM and speed.
