Question Question for the Moderators?

When you banned munky for violating the forum rules, did you also ban all the people making rude and insulting comments about him/her? It only seems fair that the rules are enforced for ALL members, not just the ones that get on your nerves. Let me copy and paste the forum rules which can be found at http://titantalk.com/showthread.php?t=8749

The forum rules are very simple. There really arent many rules. Keep your posts in the proper section, and you are free to say what you want.

Post a warning on all threads that are not work safe, such as (NWS) and keep them in the off topic sections.

Also, if the content is gross or disgusting, please note that as well.

We believe in free speech, so even if someone comes here talking really bad about the Titan, they have a right to say that.

Follow these simple rules and you will not have a problem!

Either that's a bunch of crock or the moderators are prejudiced against anyone who doesn't agree with them. It's a free country guys. We send our sons and daughters to fight for freedom, yet here we are whining on some message board about some guy/girl expressing his/her views. Big deal! That's what this country is about. Ever heard of the 1st Amendment?

As a former military man it peeves me to see that even in America, the country that stands for freedom, many people do not understand it or hold true to it. Let me give you a little lesson people. Freedom does not mean that you have to fit in to some politically correct guidelines. Freedom means that you are free to openly speak your mind without having to face persecution for it. Anything less than that is an insult to any of us who have and continue to risk and sacrifice our lives for this country and its ideals of freedom and liberty.

The first to go was munky, who's next? What happens when another one of us steps on someones toes here on the forum? Are we also to get banned? What gives any moderator the right to decide that when the rules are clearly posted? Learn what freedom is people, our sons and daughters are dying for it as we speak.

I don't see how any of the forum rules were violated.

"you are free to say what you want" - nobody told munky what to say or what not to say.

"We believe in free speech" - again, nobody told munky what to say or what not to say.

This is about censorship and consequences. This is ekool's and the moderators house. We are guests in their house. If you come to my house, you are free to say whatever you want. If you insult me or another guest in my house, I'm going to size 12 your butt right out the front door. Those are my rules. Your's may be different. You had the freedom of speech. You expressed your views. I censored you and the consequences were you had to hit the highway.

Thank god network TV doesn't think the same way you are thinking. That's another topic.

btw - there's nothing free about freedom. (as you pointed out)

America was established as a haven from prejudice and persecution for the world's oppressed, a nation seeking the highest possible principles that mankind can reflect; a nation where equality is a treasured imperative. Countless people have lost their lives in the effort to defend those principles and they all-past present, and future-have my everlasting gratitude and utmost respect. They are from diverse backgrounds and heritages and any of those backgrounds and heritages should be respected by all Americans.
Munk's paragraph that veered from his original gas price rant and ventured into apparent racist overtones has no place on this forum, nor anywhere else where the diverse heritages of Americans is respected.
This forum is a community, with much diversity among its inhabitants. As a simple matter of respect, one should take that into account when posting. Along with our American freedoms comes a responsibility to uphold those highest possible principles and continue to make true equality a reality. Freedom is only as good as what stems from it. Every person who has fought for America's ongoing freedom deserves a nation of equality and respect for all Americans, where racism and prejudice have no place. I was fully in support of the action against Munk...

Ah geez you guys, you're all getting way too worked up over this. fish_head came closest to the point. Are you paying for this forum? No? Yeah that's what I figured, the moderators/admins have the right to do whatever they choose, whenever they choose. If they shut this whole site down tomorrow, are you going to petition your senator on grounds of a 1st ammendment violation? No. Deal with, if you don't like it, say you don't like it, deal with it, or leave, but don't bring up constitutional ramblings or even think about dragging the military into this.

munky didn't heed the warning offered to him in very simple terms. if he was really interested in remaining a member of this board, and learning and sharing everything with everyone here, why couldn't he just drop it. of course it's a free country and im sure the mods will be the first bunch to say the same, but like the guys said earlier, he's a guest, and he's gotta follow the rules. there are plenty of places for him to talk about that BS, and those places aren't here. he spoke his mind, was asked not to keep on with it, and rudely ignored those requests. dont know what your prob. with that is titan 7895, he couldn't follow directions, simple as that.

I read munky's post the other day and I was surprised he wasn't booted sooner. I think he/she got exactly what he wanted...to start an argument and get everyone worked up over it. I'm member of several other forums on the web where we have lost various members to their "opinions"...there is a time and place for most everything but that may not be neccessarily here.

I don't have a problem with someone breaking the rules and being banned for it. My problem is that he/she did not break the rules, as can clearly be seen by the forum rules I posted and linked to above. If you, or anyone else, can show me where in the rules it states that political opinion or views that some may take offense to is grounds for being banned, then I will gladly drop the subject and apologize for even bringing it up. However, there is no such rule, and as a result we should not be expected to abide by such.

And Briarman, prejudice is a relative thing. If we were banned from saying anything that might offend another person we would be a nation of mimes. America was based on the ideal that every man has the right to follow his own path in life and make his own living, without being persecuted. It wasn't based on the idea that everyone has some imaginary right to never be offended or bothered by anyone else. If you or anyone else is offended by something then deal with it. Look the other way. Learn some patience and humility. Don't go crying about how prejudiced someone is or how racist they are. By doing so you are being just as critical and insulting as the offending person, and indeed no better than they are.

One thing I've learned in the military is how to take crap and not let it affect me. Learn that skill too. It will come in much more handy than whining about peoples views and making a big deal of things.

You can always just ban the IP address. But who knows, he might have a change of heart and make some useful posts. I never saw what he wrote that got him banned in the first place. I assume it has been deleted, but correct me if I'm wrong.

Gotta say - you make a very valid arguement. I have no problem with what you say. Maybe the forum rules should be changed to say "you can say whatever you want as long as we, the moderators, agree with it and don't take offense" Seems like a little bit of strange censor somebody yet have rules that say you can say whatever you want.

By the way, I didn't agree with the monkey man but I don't take offense to what ignorant people say.

Wow, what a surprise. Hate to say it but you just knew it had to be him as soon as you read his post.

What a hard head!

Wrap yourself up in the Bible and the American flag to declare how you have been unjustly treated after you give the verbal finger to people of a particular heritage and to the site's moderators who warned you to behave yourself and desist from flaming.

Freedom of speech is not an unlimited freedom to say anything you want anywhere and anytime that you please. There are limits and there are consequences. munkee decided, so now he had to pay for his decision.

My free expression to his response to being booted is that he's a:

Mods - maybe you should change the rules to say: unwarranted opinions about politics, religion, war and other sh*t that really piss people off or offend people got no place at this fun lovin Titan board. Regardless if you think the dude should be talkin about that or not, he was asked not to say stuff time and time again. Why would anyone want that kinda talk on here? Just means that the space will get filled up quicker, especially with all the arguments that will ensue.
