Mexican Cartels and Arizona Guns - Something Doesn't Add Up

Guns from Arizona going to Mexican drug cartels according to Mayors Against Illegal Guns - View From Baja Arizona

Can some one explain to me why the Cartels come to the USA to buy poor quality Semi Auto AK knock-offs at $500/ea and smuggle them across one of the better guarded borders in the world (as opposed to France, Germany, Honduras, Canada, etc) when they could buy High Quality Egyptian made Full Auto AK's NIB from any 3rd world Flea Market for $75/ea (with 2 mags and a 50rd drum) and have them shipped in through anywhere in Mexico? I'm just not believing they are that stupid.

Simple. The liberals need an excuse to take our guns away and they figure that's a good place to start.

Works now. Good article. I've never heard of it before. How reputable is the examiner? I don't want to quote it at a party and get laughed at ya know!

Re: Mexican Cartels and Arizona Guns - Something Doesn't Add Up

The whole thing is absurd. If the drug cartels need more weapons than are supplied in the form of US aid to corrupt Mexican police and military, I'm pretty sure they can find a way to smuggle them in along their 5800 mile coastline. The really astounding thing is that the US government can muster sufficient hypocrisy to talk about a "war on drugs" while spending taxpayer money and the lives of US troops to pull security detail on the Afghanistan opium crop.

I'm not finding this stuff in Walmart, perhaps I'm looking in the wrong aisle?

It is easy to cross reference........just search "Project Gunwalker"
The only thing in dispute is the quantity of guns involved.
-
Supposedly it started out as a project for the ATF to track gun movements into Mexico. The claim is
that politics entered the situation & the DOJ pushed the ATF to use it as a way to inflate the number
of guns going into Mexico. Remember last year the news media publishing articles about the large
number of U.S. guns going into Mexico. The purpose at the time was to give a boost to the
gun contol movement.......but it didn't gain much traction.

Maybe it's because I'm a stupid citizen but I have never found such bargains...
Not that I'd buy it anyway (I'm trying to stay within what's legal- automatics aren't legal)- I'm just saying if it's so easy to buy them why haven't I seen them?

That said I agree with everything said by others.
We have tons of unprotected boarders. The Cartel just *happens* to smuggle it and get caught on an area we patrol? They smuggle in, but can't smuggle out? LOL....

As best points out, you can't simply buy the stuff they're smuggling, either. These aren't your average citizens supplying them. It's either ex military, rogue military, or illegal sources.

No, the Cartel isn't that dumb. But apparently the American people are to buy the crap they're fed. They accept it without question. Think about the logistics (as is done on this forum) and red flags go up all over.

Re: Mexican Cartels and Arizona Guns - Something Doesn't Add Up

The U.S. Govt is feeding the American people BS about what is going on in Mexico.
-
From the indictment of JAMAL YOUSEF (Hezbollah)
-

The Scheme To Provide Weapons
To The FARC In Exchange For Cocaine

6. From July 2008 to the present, JAMAL YOUSEF, a/k/a
"Talal Hassan Ghantou," the defendant, along with co-conspirators
not named herein, have been engaged in negotiations with
confidential sources working with the United States Drug
Enforcement Administration ("DEA") in Central America, and have
agreed to exchange military-grade weapons, including automatic
rifles, rocket propelled grenades, hand grenades, M-60 machine
belt-fed guns, anti-tank munitions, and C-4 explosives, for
hundreds of kilograms of cocaine. The confidential sources
represented, and YOUSEF and his co-conspirators believed, that
the weapons were for use by the FARC, and that the FARC would be
supplying them with the cocaine. The conspirators claimed that
the weapons had been stolen from Iraq, and were stored in Mexico.

What's that big deal with that, daptech?

Trading drugs in exchange for disarming them is a good thing IMO...

Simple........it points out another way that "military grade" weapons are getting
into Mexico..........other than the BS that the admin, Bloomberg & gun grabbers claim........
.....& I don't think having people in Mexico with links to Hezbollah is a good sign, but that
is another issue

I don't think it necessarily means terrorist organizations are doing them. Either corrupt military or the corrupt Iraqi government, most likely.

Mexico is the land with no law. This wouldn't happen here and cartels sure don't have the balls to do it here either.
