seeing as how i just graduated college two months ago and only started working a week ago, i have little in terms of home furnishings. actually, all i have in my apartment is a TV, computer and "desk", and a bed.
i had heard about IKEA furnishing store, and had driven buy it when coming into town a few times before i moved here. they just got done remodeling and enlarging, and opened june 30. so i decided to check it out.
THIS IS THE COOLEST STORE EVER. they have everything you need for your house / apartment, and its all modern, cool looking furniture with an awesome range of prices. and this is innovative, quality furniture at great prices, none of that walmart crap. you get furniture store quality for walmart prices. check this out:
Wife wanted to stop by, after looking for a parking spot for 15 minutes and fighting the parking lot traffic jam I said forget it, lets come back in a month once they have completed their remodel and have more than 50 parking spots. Congrats on your new furniture (and finding a parking spot)
I have to disagree with IKEA being the coolest store ever. We just got our first FRY'S Electronics here and I think I am in love. This place is the ultimate electronics toy store. If it is electronic, they have it and their prices are better than anyone else in the area.
I just got a ($400) 25" Sharp TV for $99.99 today. It will fit perfectly in my wife's home office. It seemed that every other person in the store was walking out with one today. That was a deal that I couldn't pass up. I also picked up a high-end Whistler radar detector for $19.99. They had all sorts of other models for anywhere up to $200.

Fry's is the greatest. Return policy isnt that great and sometimes the staff isnt that knowledgable, but they make up for it in great selection and great prices. The nearest one to me is in Austin (1hr) so I only make it up there once every blue moon. You can get an idea of their selection at www.amazon.com as they are a seller for Fry's on the Internet. However, I highly recommend finding a store as the deals are always low and often.
IKEA is pretty cool, but you get what you pay for. I broke 2 out of 4 dining room chairs trying to assemble them due to mis-drilled holes. I did return them for new ones without ant problems though. In my opinion it is "trendy furniture" that will only last a couple of years.
Off topic:
The fiance` and I bought champagne glasses there for our wedding. We want to make a pyramid/fountain for the wedding. Does anyone know the special way to stack the glasses? Just curious? Maxim magazine said how to do it with whiskey shots,(http://www.maximonline.com/stupid_fu...icle_5259.html) but I figured my titan brothers could help me out.
I like IKEA. I would suggest shopping IKEA online before going there. This way you only have to find that parking spot for pickup only. I also found that the french stuff goes together very easily, and everything is measured exact. Dont ask me why because i was very suprised about this, but its true. I furnished my whole computer room with IKEA online. I agree with you get what you pay for. I also bought some kitchen chairs there, and they are alittle week. The computer desk, and cabinets were expensive, and very well built. I expect them to hold up for awhile.
