Perhaps because it was a Chevy thread on a Titan Forum? It should've been moved to off-topic if that's the case - not locked, IMHO.

I think it was a good preventative measure, but kind of bordered on over-censorship.

The moderators are responsible for having enough foresight to see if a thread will get out of hand. Obviously, the moderator decided the thread was not going in the constructive direction.

I am also curious on the 6.0 SS and its ability to compete with a Titan. Perhaps I will venture over to a Chevy forum to find out more.

you can't close a thread because you "think" it's going in the wrong direction. especially a thread that was informative, thats the purpose of these boards, to learn. that thread wasn't going in the wrong direction, at all.

Titan21, you can disagree all you want, but what pciley said is very close to the truth. The thread was going in a direction against what we have agreed that this board is about. If you want to discuss the Chevy 6.0 SS, head over to their forum.

Also as there were a number of profane and insulting posts from people that were not members of this board, even though a lot of those posts were deleted, there is no place on this board for that type of language.

We have had this discussion before and there are those of you out there that think we are too strict. Fortunately for us the majority (and it is a huge majority) have privately applauded us for our ability to maintain the forum as well as we do. We are constantly being told that this is a great site and that people are comfortable reading the threads without having to worry about trolls, profanity or anything that based on the forum rules is deemed unacceptable.

Hopefully everyone will understand that we are trying to maintain a higher standard than the other car/truck forums and from the comments it appears we are doing exactly that.

By the way, I was the one who closed the thread. As far as giving you a clear answer, I cannot be any more clear.

let me address the first thing you said. i cannot discuss the chevy silverado ss here? why? it's not like we have a huge amount of threads dedicated to the SS (none probably) so whats the deal with us having a single thread talking about TITAN vs. SS? i would understand if it was a constant thing with constant flaming, but i saw hardly any. as far as this being a great site, yes it is, i have publicly applauded this site on many occasions. but when i see a thread where i don't see any trolls, just one profanity that gets blocked out anyways, and much information being shared and fellow member and i learning things about our trucks then i enjoy it. thats what a message board is all about. i can't believe a thread is closed on the basis that "it might turn bad" so my country is going to cut off all diplomatic relations with the other country because i think they *may* want to start a war. i love it. still not a clear answer was given. too bad, didn't really expect one either for a situation that never required any action.

Once a post gets cross posted to another site like that, it tends to attract lots of trolls, so I can see some wisdom in locking it down. I see it happen from the other direction often enough. And the discussions about "my truck is better than your truck" are truly fruitless. Unless you are an impulse buyer, you bought the truck you got for a good reason(s). In my case, the Silverado SS was the perfect truck for me in almost every respect. The only thing missing was a supercharger, and that was easy enough to add. I hope some company gets a supercharger or Turbo out for your Titans. Forced Induction is real cool

If you are interested in more information on the Silverado SS, drop by www.SilveradoSS.com

Actually no one is 'talking' about the Avalanche. There was one question and it was answered. I doubt that that could be considered talking about it in the constraints of this forum.

When a half dozen posts on the same topic are in a thread, that is talking about something.

Trucks are trucks manufactured by a different brand name company. I was reading the topic of the SS Silverado Truck Forum, even though some titan owners got out of line calling it not a challenger to the titan i totally disagree, my truck can run with the best of them, with rwd the titans that are equipped with goodies will tend to spin it from the start line, with awd you get a firm grip when launching, i would really really would love to tryout a titan with my SS Silverado, i beat a fair bunch of Ford and Dodge trucks. YOU WIN SOME AND YOU LOSE SOME WHOLE POINT OF RACING.
