Well, yeah Nissans pocket is not as deep as Toys, but Nissans is building their own engine to coincide with Toys hybrid technology....blah blah blah. I know I am being picky on words, but lets not give credit where credit is not due.
Nissan is primarily an Engine Engineering company, I doubt they would go to others for that.
Here's the excerpt from NissanNews:
"In September 2002, Nissan and Toyota signed a basic agreement that Nissan will produce 100,000 hybrid vehicles within a five-year period. Toyota will supply the hybrid system components (transaxle, inverter, battery, and control unit), and Nissan will develop the
engine and unit adaptation which defines the attractiveness of the product. This prototype model is the first completed by Nissan under the agreement."
The old Ford SHOs had a suhweet Yamaha Engine. I also beleive that Toys had Yamaha develop an engine for one of their Celica model.
