Damn, it would be really handy to have a spare car to abuse.

That would have been nice. Wonder if you would still get the 2 or 3% financing and the rebates tho...

Even if you couldn't, if the other car is $11K as they say, just sell the stupid thing.

Well... An XE sentra with only 30,000 and listed as "Good" condition according to Kelly Blue book Private Party sale is only worth $7,900. Being an off lease car a lot of people would steer clear of it. I guess I'm too cynical to buy into the deal. I paid invoice (30,000 plus some change for a CC LE Big Tow) and got rebates of $2000 plus 3.9 financing. Invoice over sticker = $4,500 savings Rebates = $2000 savings financing over term compared to 8 percent = $1500 savings. A payout for taxes on the "free" car = $700.00 for a grand total of $8,700.00 in savings. They can keep the car.

actually, i prefer off lease cars. maybe not a base sentra, but the last 3 used cars i bought were off lease and they were the most problem free cars ive ever owned. low miles, great paint and interior, etc... just my thoughts on that. now, having said that, im not sure what i would rather have, the car or all the rebates, incentives, and great deal to start off with. they would probably be less likely to give a good deal, one would think anyway.

I just don't like gimmicks. I've got friends that did this in their (La Familia) dealership also. They only keep a couple nice vehicles as freebees and the rest are off-lease less than excellent condition cheapos. Once the nice rides are sold or "given away" (I'm sure to friends of the business) the public receives the short end of the stick since it's a first come first serve deal. The dealership also pockets incentives or rebates for the truck and the freebee car which allows them free cash on two vehicles. They also get a better rate on vehicles since they are moving twice the vehicles but really giving a worse deal than just selling the truck for invoice like I tried to explain above. I almost fell for the same deal in Orlando with a "free mirage with montero" plan a couple years ago untill my buddy filled me in and he was right- I was losing $$$. Ok a sentra is better than a mirage but same point. Anyone who goes for it should know what Q's to ask and I hope I highlighted some of them for you.
