I don't know why anyone would think Obama is anti gun..

That statement from Obama shows his ignorance with the issue. His ignorance is exactly why he wont burst the gun law tolerance level.

Even a tried and true liberal such as yourself has to be able to see the facts...

1. Guns are not the priority of this term. The economy is and proving that the Democrats can reduce the budget deficit is the priority. Otherwise, we'll have a fully on Republican government.
2. The UN came to monitor elections and all sorts of conservatives got freaked out because of that. They broke no laws but the fear that somehow they would created panic amongst the Right. If THAT was the reaction as a group monitoring election, imagine the response IF EVEN the UN would have some authority over the United States and it's cultural icon, the gun.
3. Obama didn't push the "anti gun" agenda when he had momentum in his first year. He holds not even close to the power to get legislation through the Senate and much less the House. Too many Democratic Senators are not anywhere close to Far Left enough or safe enough to vote in a bloc for that type of legislation.

All the Right Wing fear did then and now is spur spikes in ammunition shortages and gun prices.

Not going to happen.
