Yes, most work. But, most don't make enough money to live without govt assistance.

Households with children with the highest welfare use rates are those headed by immigrants from the Dominican Republic (82 percent), Mexico and Guatemala (75 percent), and Ecuador (70 percent). Those with the lowest use rates are from the United Kingdom (7 percent), India (19 percent), Canada (23 percent), and Korea (25 percent).

An unwillingness to work is not the reason immigrant welfare use is high. The vast majority (95 percent) of immigrant households with children had at least one worker in 2009. But their low education levels mean that more than half of these working immigrant households with children still accessed the welfare system during 2009.

To get around the not paying taxes issue, we need to implement the Fair Tax.
Then why do they overwhelmingly vote democrat? I don't think it's a stretch to think that a majority will continue to vote for dems.

We do not have enough jobs for our own people!

On the news, this weekend, they had a story about Baby Hotels, where 40,000 women from other countries come to the states every year to have their babies. The kid gets dual citizenship. Even though they will probably not live here, they will be able to come and go when they are grown.

You should really take a trip to New York Rholland. I think you would feel better if you took the statue of liberty down. Or at least destroyed the words on it.

Because the Republicans have offered these people nothing other than threats of sending them or their relatives back to their homeland. You offer them a pay check as opposed to a government subsidy in which they can barely get by on, then they will go with us.

Many of them get both because the paycheck is not enough to support a family.

Two completely different things, these women, and the ones they showed were from China, are coming here on vacation, having their baby, and going home, then the child, with his or her dual citizenship, with no allegiance to the USA, will be able to come and go as they please.
What is the purpose for this, why do they want their children born here instead of their own country?
The ones coming from China must have permission from the Chinese government.
Are they receiving benefits from this country, when the female reporter tried to talk to some of them, the Chinese man that was guarding the place became irate, and was shoving the reporter away from them. You can bet they are not doing this the help the USA.

I don't know about about Longview Washington, but in Longview Texas, we have a lot of illegal's that are working for about half the going rate in the home building trades and that is driving down the wages of the American workers.
The people running the companies that hire them and pay the lower wages should be the first ones deported.
The 25 years that I lived in So. Calif., made me respect the hard working Hispanics that I knew. I think they were mostly legal.

you can bet most of the immigrants that came here didn't do it to help the USA, it was to help themselves.

I just think in general, you would be a lot happier if lady liberty didn't have an open invitation chiseled into her.

Do not get me wrong. We need to fix the tide of illegal immigration. I want to pull our military out of Iraq and Afghanistan and even close some foreign bases and build new ones on our southern border and deploy the might of the US Military to protecting our southern border from dangerous smugglers of drugs and guns. If that also has a side effect of fewer people coming here illegally, well that's nice too.

I understand why these people want to come here, and yes we have a legal process to do so. I also know that, like most government run programs, it sucks and needs to fixed. As usual, there is no singular solution to a multifaceted problem but truthfully I don't like the idea of instant amnesty. These people have committed a crime entering this country illegally. We cannot start overlooking criminal activity. Someone needs to take responsibility for their actions.

"Start" overlooking their criminal activity? That is the whole problem with the illegals. During the booming economic times, we needed their cheap labor and turned an eye towards their being illegal for many, many years allowing them to get established in this country. Now it is too late just to run them out and would be against the spirit of this Nation to do so. We just need to keep the good ones, send the trash back to the craphole they came from and don't let it happen again.

Depends on what you mean by we need their cheap labor.
After Katrina & the clean up started.......my neighbor already had a dually pickup, so
he bought a large dump trailer & headed to New Orleans to make money hauling debris. That only
lasted a couple of weeks until the big contractors came from Texas with their
cheap Hispanic laborers.

And it is not just cheap labor from south of the border. It can be from anywhere.....a lot of
this flies under the radar. Very few locals here knew there was A Filipino "labor camp" in the
area until two of them were killed offshore......half-azz oil field company can't afford to
pay the prevailing wage for that kind of work, so they bring in cheap labor & abuse them...so it is claimed.

Let me clue you in.

Free Market economy.

Nothing in the definition says "must be on a level playing field", "must be ethical" to produce a good or service.

An illegal comes here because there's incentive to do so.
A business hires them to work because there's incentive to do so.
A person hires said business because there's incentive to do so.

You want a product or service produced at a cost you want to pay and then want government to come in and level the playing field...but want less government.

The cost of most manual labor jobs that have involved illegals to do the work would increase because of a worker shortage.

Your friend had a good idea; just not a competitive business model in an environment that is not scrutinized.

Of course his business model was not competitive. FEMA contracts went to people with
deep pockets.......campaign contributions.

I'm sure a smart guy like you could guess what company did some of the repairs & debris removal
at govt facilities.......come on, think......2005.....Bush...Cheney

And I think this is a major problem that virtually locks out small business owners. It's a logistical challenge to get subcontract work.

And for the record, I am fully against illegals holding jobs, businesses hiring illegals, and for the government at not being better at breaking this cycle.

When you consider the cost of health care for undocumented workers, and the potential injuries that occur at business sites, we pay indirectly far greater than hiring eligible workers...but I would say the price of some services would increase.
