MXC on Spike TV has undoubtedly become the 4th sport in this household. I was delighted to see that the NHL was canceled. I am from La., so losing hockey only means more basketball and baseball coverage. Plus, I think the NFL and MLB will learn alot from the NHL's mistakes.

Not the NFL, they already have a strong salary cap!!!!! thanks to Paul Tagliabue, plus the NFL player's union is not as powerful as the crybaby , spoiled MLB player's union. it was the MLB player's union that controlled substance abuse testing, that is why steroid use was so rampant. no one was police-ing them!!! and look at what they've done to baseball!!! they demanded no salary cap and now look at MLB... obviously, many people do not understand the ramifications from that!!! quick break down!!! when you go to the stadium to watch your favorite baseball team play and you have to pay $7.00 bucks for a hotdog and $7.00 for a beer and $7.00 for f*ckin nachos and a $2.00 bathroom entrance fee, its because the dumba$s owners pay a gazillion dollars for some average joe player. being that there is no SALARY CAP, the dumb owners go out and OVERPAY for some decent player, many times overpay for crappy players, in turn causing us the FAN to have to overpay for other things as well. Till the owners get some frickin' cajones and lock the players out, to get a salary cap installed, we're all going to have to take out a loan just to go see a game live. i'd give up watching MLB for a few years till they resolve the salary cap issue. i for one am sick of seeing these baseball players getting paid these astronomical salaries and causing the die-hard fans like myself to have to pay ridiculous prices on food, parking, drinks, and tickets. Damn, nowadays you need well over $50pp just to see a game!!! just frickin' ridiculous!!!

This is just great. Now I have to find a new favorite sport.

Any suggestions?

Give college hockey a try! Yeah, you won't find it on TV, but if you go to the arena and watch, it's usually pretty good!

'course if you live here in South Florida ...... you're pretty much screwed!

just to put things more into perspective, my EHL hockey team the San Diego Gulls, just signed Chicago Blackhawk defenseman Curtis Brown for $500.00 a week. pretty cheap but much more realistic than the $6 million he was to get for this season with the Blackhawks to play hockey. i think MLB needs to go on strike too!!!

Hockey...

They will have to kiss fans' butts for the next five years like baseball did after their strike.

I say watch college basketball, it's entertaining and no other sport at any level has a playoff tournament to match!!!

MARCH MADNESS BABY!!!!

I like hockey, but in my area of California we don't see it much except for the playoffs. I was a fan of the Bruins as I grew up in Rhode Island. Anyone remember their farm team the Rhode Island Reds. I saw them on many occasion when I was a kid (late 1960's early 70's). The same arena would have roller derby in the off season. My heart felt condolences to our northern friends in Canada who have been deprived of "Hockey Night In Canada." When I lived in British Columbia from '79-'81 it was akin to Monday Night football except on Wednesdays. Can anyone imagine not having football??!!!

The biggest loss is not having "Hockey Night in Canada" on Saturday nights. It doesn't really matter who is playing just something on while we drink beer, now we have Texas hold'em tourney's every couple of weekends. Hockey was cheaper, I only had to buy a case of beer and maybe a few bucks for pizza, last weekend I lost $80 bucks playing like a fool.

I agree. If it's not on free TV or basic cable, I don't watch it. A fishing license is less than $20. A hunting license including deer, pheasant and waterfowl is less than $100. Then you can go outside and entertain yourself.
And we have the Mighty Titan to pull the toys and get into the woods! What's better sport than that?
