I went to break and when I came back I couldn't find it. I always miss out on the excitement. Darn darn darn.
Sorry I brought it back up.

It has not been one of the best weeks on TT. I am seriously looking forward to next week when it will be better. Just need DC to get out of school so he can rejoin us for the summer.

ummm... If I read your words as you said them, you are taking the same negativity towards the members as the members took toward the mods. Is that really what you are trying to convey? I hope not. Crticism of the mods by members and of members by mods is necessary as long as it is contructive. We should not all have to cower in fear because we say what needs to be said. Perhaps what was said could have been worded in a more diplomatic manner, but I could not find anything said that would be cause for banning anyone.

As I said personal attacks against any member of management should not be tolarated, if people can't respect that, they shouldn't be here. Adminstrators and mod's where put in place by the site owner to enforce rules, and keep the peace. Again the key words are chosen by the site adminstrator the owner.

The proper way to handle issues with moderators is with a Private Message.

If a member decides to publicly take on a moderator then he takes his chances as to how patient and understanding the moderators will be. We will not get into a public pissing match. We will just end it for the good of the rest of the site.

Maybe it's time to revisit the rules as posted by Chris. Please note the last paragraph bolded and underlined by me:

Guidelines for Members Version 2

This site was made for people to come and discuss this and other trucks...the good and the bad. To share information as we all have purchased a brand new modern full size truck. Hence the different sections that even specifically relate to 'issues'.

Anyones post that has been deleted in any regard has been so based on the guidelines put for to the mods from the owner. Those guidelines are pretty simple and straight forward thus far especially once you read around on the board a bit and get the 'tone' that has been set.

1. Keep anything off the board that would get it shut down (read this is porn, etc etc).

2. Keep 'troll' activity off the board. This simply refers to the children that want to come over and post stuff to create havoc. These type of postings only serve one purpose - Disruption of the board and its members through childish means, misinformation, verbal challenges and vulgar language. Seeing this type of activity will automatically result in a ban from the board.

3. Keep personal attacks to a minimum. This means once, you'll get a warning...again and your gone. There is a difference between debate and the full onslought of a member. Yes, it is a judgement call by the mods, but I assure everyone that the posts concerned are reviewed by all four of us and we all must agree on the disposition of the posts (If time allows - If not it will be locked or closed until such time). A good heated debate has no issues, its only when things get very specific between a few members that someone or all will get a warning or a posting in the thread asking them to tone it down a bit. If they refuse to adhere to the warnign they may be banned.

4. We now have rules regarding advertisements for vendors and that is described in the rules forum. Anyone who is seeking to advertise on this site must contact the board owner username: ekool. Advertising in your signature file is not allowed either. It will be removed.

With the above in mind the overall goals of the board are being met and I think you can see the result as it relates to the overall tone of the board. There have been numerous comments and PM's sent directly to the mods by many of our members that enforce how great of a place this is to come and hom much NOT like other forums we are not that makes it so pleasurable to come to and discuss all things Titan or anything else on thier minds in the Off-Topic area.

I am sure I am missing something in the above, and I will edit this posting as required.

One thing I do ask everyone to keep in mind. Moderators are Members also. They are not paid to do this. They are solicited volunteers. They are chosen based on thier contributions to the board and evaluations of thier postings with regards to thier 'in-line' with the 'tone' that has been set by the owner of the board. We currently have a total of 5 mods on the board.

Any percieved violation of the above normally results in deletion of the post or editing of the posters comment and a followup PM explaining why. In some cases as to not let the situation get out of hand, you may not recieve a warning! This is because the mods will not allow this board to be thrown in chaos under any circumstance.

We welcome anyone and everyone to grab a drink, sit down and enjoy the forum with this in mind.....WELCOME ABOARD!!!!

Any problem with a mod may be addressed through PM to another mod or ekool. This is the way to handle any issues. Posting in the public forum is not the place to question any mods performance/reasoning etc. Do this in Private if you feel you must but the mods here have been here a while and have the full support of the board owner.

Why don't you lobby to ban all 6000 members. Then only you can decide what is fair critisism and what is attacks. You need to understand you are just 1/6000 and keep your mouth shut. If the mods want to start banning folks for stating fair critisism, then let me be the first. But we don't need shots from the cheap seats.

I recall an occasion many moons ago when one of the members decided to post a thread complaining about a decision Chris had made....as nice a guy as Chris was, "calling him out" was not a very smart thing to do....Chris gave the guy a seven day ban to reconsider his actions.

When the member came back, it didn't take long for them to become friends again. Everyone has made at least one post that they regretted. We're all human. The rules are pretty straight forward. Most everyone seems to have little trouble following them.

I agree with TYTAIN that a general slur against one of the mods, or any member, even without mentioning them by name, reflects badly on our community. A specific complaint concerning an action should be reported as 37L1 has outlined.

If you think someone has a serious personality flaw that you just can't stand, flame away about it in a PM to one of your buddies. They'll either laugh with you in agreement, or set you straight without having to embarrass yourself in public.

I would close this thread before it turns in to another "Nominate a Mod" thread.
