I attend a "Monster Truck jam", circus, rodeo or a sporting event and the national anthem is played and sung with pride. Once I questioned whether or not the status of the event should determine if it is sung or not and the circus or truck event did not fit in. However, I realised that this is one of those things that binds us together and lets us revel in our liberty.
It's ours and does not belong to a party, group or institution. We should sing it where and whenever we can.
I attended my wife's graduation ceremony this weekend at Friends University and NO national anthem! They did have a flag at the head of the procession but no anthem!
Just remember that most colleges are very bias in the "liberal" sense. This is no surprise to me. More and more schools are making this change for the worse because they do not want to offend anyone.
Quite sad really!

...a consevative policy instituted by "liberals"? HA!
It's funny/sad how we are able to offend the majority without a care. Anyone making the most out of the liberty they have here and getting a decent education and cannot sing the anthem with pride needs to head to some third-world country where barefoot peasants do it all the time.
There's many forigners that would have never had a chance to go college to if not for america. Go to the doctor, and just take a look at what nationality he is! Half of them i cant even understand. American's dont know how good they have it, and dont take advantage of it. Trust me i am guilty of it. I drive truck for a living because i did take advantage of it. They come over here because if they stay home they have nothing. They take the advantage, and make something of themselves, and i am happy for them, but they damn well better raise the hand to the FLAG that gave it to them. As far as the liberal crap spoken. Let's all be honest. I was a loyal republican for 15yrs. Now i am i guess in the middle. Its amazing to me how someone waves a religous flag in front of people, and all the sudden its ok for the F'up's he has done! I dont get it. 4 Years there still bashing clinton, but i dont recall a Blowjob killing anyone?? What a joke all of it has become.
Squid, diversity is our foundation anyway. It's why we are so successful.
Budman, the sad thing is that it's not the foreign students who are "embarrassed" by the national anthem, pledging allegiance, or standing to salute the flag. On Saturday evening after the graduation we went to the Wichita River Festival and open-air orchestra. When the anthem played my family and I, including my mother-in-law from South Africa, stood to attention and placed our right hands over our hearts and watched as dozens of Americans talked, joked, and walked on by.
We may not respect other parties ideals, opposing church doctrine, government policies or even the antics of politicians but we can all at least respect the national anthem.

What I mean is we now take into account other citizenships in this country thus the removal of the Anhem. Don't want to piss off the Chinese.

No, I get what you mean but we have gone from the sublime to the ridiculous. Imagine the Chinese or even the Candians not playing their anthems because they are taking into account other nationalities.
You'd think with all the Federal money that flows into the coffers of so many colleges and universities that they would all be happy to play the national anthem at graduation. Too damned P.C. for their own good!

We have lost our minds.
Yes sir we have.
In my travels I have never had a problem showing respect to another Countries Anthem. Not sure what the problem here in the States is anymore. As a patriotic Vet it saddens me. That must be the key, PATRIOTISM.
Gee I could have won a lot of money if I bet Fred would vote "No."
Who would have thought????
