Need to do some repairs to my pool deck such as "slab jacking" and patching some small cracks. Was thinking about staining the concrete with an opaque stain so the surface is a uniform color again. Was hoping to get some opinions and possibly pictures from someone who has used concrete stains before. The surface is a broom finish so it is porous and should'nt need to be etched. If you've had experience with this stuff drop me a PM or post and tell me what you think.
Thanks!

No experience but would be interested also. I've gotten a color difference where the winter cover and the exposed areas are. I have the same surface that you have but there is a texture and color difference in the never covered areas. The winter covered areas look smoother and nearly new. Pressure washing just magnifies the difference as it tends to take off some of the surface.

I have had much better luck with the epoxy type of concrete coating as compared with concrete stain. I have not messed with any pool decks. My experience is with a concrete patio that settled, cracked, was mud-jacked by drilling holes and pumping grout underneath the slab. The concrete stain did not last. The epoxy coating has been much more durable.

bestatchess, Did you put down the epoxy? If so, was it hard to do. What about clean-up? Oh, how about some pictures of the surface and how long its been down. Thanks alot for your help!

I have since covered the surface with thin paving bricks (not because the epoxy failed, just to get a different look). The epoxy still looked o.k. three years later, while the stain was shot after about 1 year. I put down the epoxy myself, and no, it was not hard to do. I used a kit I bought at Home Depot.
