well, summer is definately here. the fawns are running around now....sorry for the deck being in the way of the pics but they are very easily spooked now, especially momma.....

Very nice. I would love to have them in my backyard. They wouldn't eat as much as the damn rabbits.

yeah, im really surprised they are still around w/ all the construction/deforestation going on around my house.....i just havent seen the turkeys in a while....

I saw the first live fawns this morning. They are late this year in my area. Usually I see them at least by May. Last year I never saw any, and that is on over 4,000 acres!
Between the mountain lions, bobcats and coyotes, the poor little things don't have much of a chance. It has been illegal to kill predators for the last 10 years or so, therefore they are overrunning the place.
Logging actually helps the deer pop. in my area. It allows the brush that the deer eat to grow. Since hunting predators and logging have been basically outlawed the deer pop. is in steep decline.
