Leave it or Not...

OKay guys, I need your input here.

I'm headed out of town next week on a business trip to Vegas. Should be fun, but my concern is my Titan.

I'm flying out of Balt-Washington Airport(BWI) and I'll have to leave the Titan in the 'long-term parking for the week. And it makes me nervous.

So, give me your opinion and your horror stories so I can stress about it the rest of the week!!!

Take a cab, or have a friend take you...barring that I would say that is what insurance is for.

Well, where I am, there's not many cabs. And besides, it's 80 miles to the airport. As for friends, I don't know if they like me that much to leave at 515 am... early flight...

So it looks like your sleeping over night at the air port so they can drop you off the night before? OR! Your friends, Just have 'em take you out for drinks until 2 am, and then go get some grubb at some 24 hour resturant, then have them drop you off at about 3:30 or 4 am, and then sleep on the plane.

See, problem solved. A night with good friends, and the truck stays home! =)

I was in your situation last month. We [the wife and I] went to Vegas for a week on vacation. I drove the Titan to the Airport and left it in the long term parking garage. On the flight home I remembered that I had left my equalizer hitch on and didn't have the lock on it. I was amazed when we got to the airport that it was still on.
It cost us around $50.00 to park for a week, if I had it to do over again I would have stayed at a motel near the airport for a night and used their shuttle service to take me to the airport and back it would of been cheaper in the long run and my truck would probably have been safer.

I would park it at the airport. That's why you are paying insurance. Damage or theft can happen to your Titan no matter where you park it.

I have left my Titan at BWI for a week and at Dulles for three days. No problems either time. Most people aren't going to screw with vehicles in satellite parking because they have to pay to get out of the lot. Most thieves are probably too cheap to pony up the bucks.

You might look into the long term parking that a rental car company in the area may offer. In a number of locations, companies, such as Thrifty, have valet lots where you drive up, give them the keys to your car and they park it for you. All you do is hop on a shuttle to the airport and then give them a call when you get back. Your truck is pulled up from the lot and waiting for you when the shuttle brings you back to their location. You may not be comfortable with someone else parking your vehicle, but their lots are secured and only employees of the company can go anywhere near your truck. I do this every time I fly out and it only costs about $4.95 a day.

Do you use the Thrifty off of 112th near the airport (MCI) or are you in Shawnee Co? I always rent from that Thrifty when I have to meet with Sprint. Very friendly folks there.

Wink

When in Doubt..Take The Titan OUT!!!! One of life's small gambles but I would take the Titan, then drop off an Entemann's cake or apple pie to the airport police desk while simultaneously indicating to them where the Titan is parked. Have a safe trip!
