hey guys, I picked up a used 2005 49cc moped last week for driving around town. It didnt have a manual and the kid didnt know anything about it, he only changed oil in it once.
I wanted to know if anyone knew anything about what kind of oil to put in it? 5-30 10-30?
thanks for the help
Aye.
I fondly remember the early 20's of my life, being way too drunk to drive, but riding the moped instead. I think I hosed down some fat women back then too, but not so fat that they would fall through the floor of a mobile home! The best part? Nobody saw me riding either one of them.
I'm afraid to post but I do have some stories on the topic.

Oh yeah. Google is your friend as far as what kind of oil to use. I used to mix some plain old motor oil with the gas til the thing started to smoke a little and then I thinned it with a little more gas.
its a 4 cycle engine, so there is no mixing gas. I have tried searching the internet and I havent found much about maintainance, (so my last resort was to ask you guys jk )
10w-40 is slightly thicker. Usually used for low tolerance engines/older vehicles. Should work fine. there is a thread with exact explaination of weights, but that is the general answer.

Does it have a engine/tranny combo like most motorcycles or does it use a cassette tranny? If they are combined, all the motorcycles I've owned and currently own use 20w 50 unless the temp is below 30 degrees. Although a straight engine (as opposed to gay, yes I know) will generally use a 10+ weight, when you combine the forces and temps of the tranny with it, and lubrication needs of the tranny, a heavier oil is usually required. Also, if its a wet clutch, do not use synthitic. I use Castrol Motorcycle specific oils in my bikes, better on the clutch and has additives for the tranny and needs of a motorcycle engine. Its not a street legal Lawnboy and has different needs.

its just a cheap moped that uses a belt and clutch to drive, so its seperate from the engine.
