Yeah, well right now, Wake co. public schools are going through this traditional to year-round crap...
  Our son just started 1st grade and next school year may be tough for us if the YR crap passes. They are making room for the influx of population and "needy" kids I guess. Piss you off or not, I was born and raised here, and if it weren't for certain ethnicities taking advantage of free this and that, our schools wouldn't be overcrowded and we wouldn't have to figure out what we'll do with our son for 3 weeks at a time while he's tracked out.

Move to nice suburbs with nice schools or shut up.
You gotta pay for nice public schools or private schools... that's the way it is. People buy houses thinking they are a great deal and then realize the schools suck. Poor planning if you ask me. I'm single and I'll live anywhere as I long as I can see my truck where I park it. Once I have a little one I'll live in a crap apartment if it means living in the right school district. Priorities folks...priorities.

The year round stuff in Raleigh sucks! but I think you should point fingers at poor planning and politicians not the students! NOT THEIR FAULT>
And certain groups taking "advantage" of what, free education that our government says is a right for all. Not just middle/upper class. No one can be blamed for Wake counties need of nearly 1 billion dollars to solve their financial issues except the politicians and people not willing to pay for it. Heck, our taxes here in Pitt county are nearly double that of wake. So quit your whining!

I paid a little more for our house than I would have if I wanted to live in North Tyler, but the benefit is the better schools. The school both of my kids are going to now is one of the better elementary schools in the area, and my son even made thier "target" program (its like accelerated learning). Couldnt be happier with the schools or where we live. The 4 state troopers in my neighborhood and 2 local city cops also make for a nice safe community.
