However, there are things that I think the governmernt should spend on: Education, Military, and Infrastructure (roads, energy, etc). I believe these things are neccessary to make and keep our country great.

My .02
sure it take money to run an education system. My point is don't give the school districts more money until they get their fiscal house in order. Stop spending money on expanding non curricular activities.
Just look at what happened in my little school district. We lose power for several days a month in the winter. Last winter was even worse. The High School had no power for 3 days, yet the school stayed in session. The district claimed they could not let the student go home because they would lose their ADA money. The parents were up in arms because there was now heat or lights and little education was taking place.
A group of parents submitted an article in the local paper pleading for everyone to to donate one$ toward buying a generator for the school. Little did the parents know that at the beginning of the school year the district auctioned off 3 25kw generators for $500 total. I know this because I am the one who bought these generators and turned around and sold them for $25k!!
These generators were brand new, but had been sitting in the rain for 5 years. The district never could explain why they were never used.
That is why I lead the fight against any parcel tax increase for the district. The incompetence of the school officials local and state wide is, in part, what is killing our education system.

Re: Discrimination In Our Public Schools

The problem we have is the district we live in has the best elementry school in the city and people lie about their address to get in causing overcrowding. They have busted numerous familys for falsifying addresses or using a family member or friends address. The other problem we have is MO is cutting back funding for gifted programs, which my kids go to. We have stepped up the challenges we do at home, but its not the same as when they are in a structured school settings with peers to discuss advanced studies.

Remember, NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND.........as test scores continue to fall. Ya thats working real well.

Agreed but getting smart peole to work in government is a whole 'nother can of worms. I am currently a government employee and I am outraged at the waste of tax dollars I see every day.

Most government employees are worried about not getting fired...not doing their job.
