Re: check this out.. carMD

you can go to autozone and they would do it for you for free... delete the code if you want to and tell you whats wrong!

I think it would be better if you buy the one that you can do the 2*timing advance and hook me up afterward with it....

Re: check this out.. carMD

The orange thing has a few versions, sold at sears too. $89, $149 and $249 or so? I got the $149 model for about $110 by googleing for it and finding it online.

ACTRON is the brand. Good quality stuff, mid price unit gives code and english words ( a Spainish version is available too.) Low price just gives code, look up in book or on a CD to understand. Either will read OBDII codes and erase.

For once a year, just get free reading at Autozone, if the counterguy is experienced, he'll be able to suggest possible solution. Does not replace a trained mechanic in all instances though.

Older cars may use OBDI, higher priced unit includes adapter cables for those systems. Go to ACTRON website and study up before buying.

The simple ACTRON $89 unit appears smaller/sturdier than CarMD.

Good find though. I like the red/yellow/green light concept to reduce worries. Recommend a unit with words though, looking up is really slow process if you use it often.
