Army Strong

Well being in the Army, I really enjoyed the new campain ad that will be put into effect soon changing the Army motto from "An Army of One" to "Army Strong." Heres on of the ads.

Re: Army Strong

19 years in here still a little emotionaly attached to "Be all you can be.", But I do like the idea of Army strong better than An Army of one. And that commercial was very cool. I noticed some glimpses of our old commercials in there too. Thanks for the link

Re: Army Strong

I didnt like the "Army of One" I called it "Army of -1" and also I do not like the black berett--stupid. I do have 20 years in the army 17 in army aviation and currently in the National Guard, a police officer for 6 years. I did like the new commercial for the army, thanks for showing it.

Re: Army Strong

I just wish they would go with something with some history/tradition/meaning, instead of trying to figure out what today's kiddies are into. Something like "This we'll defend" or "Duty, Honor, Country", but maybe that's just me.

Im not a big fan on the black beret either, but of course, I myself wear the tan so thats to be expected.

I do think that Army Strong is a hell of a lot better than An Army of One, Although, i wouldnt have picked either.

Re: Army Strong

I agree with doing away with the beret. We should have stuck with the army greens IMO, I felt like a soldier in those. You had them pressed and your leather boots were HIGHLY shined, now these ACU crap just falls apart after six months of normal wear and tear. You should see these soldiers walking around in wrinkled, sloppy uniforms, it takes the pride out of wearing it. That my two cents on it.

yea roger!! we just spent 3 weeks doing a MRE and it really gave me an idea on how crappy these ACU's are. I could wear a BDU in the field for 3-5days easy, but these ACU'S cant stand up to that kind of wear with out showing the wear. the velcro kept grabbing the velcro on our drush tents ripping off our unit patches or american flag..just crap and the boots show every little spot Im almost ashamed to wear my uniform..doesnt present the same kind of pride a highly shined pair of concrains and a pressed set of BDU's did

Re: Army Strong

While I am not an army vet, I do prefer this motto to the last one. I am deeply saddened however at the new theme for the summer camp type training the recuits get.

Could be the Marine pride, but it is still sickening to see how the wussification of America has even hit our training centers.

Re: Army Strong

Read most of that report and have a few comments. Whatever the slogan, the army made quota. I've always had "Be all that you can be" as my favorite. That report makes women to blame for way too much. They are promoting the military citizen now. Its all about the numbers that make it through because of cost and funding/personnel cutbacks. I see the problem as there are too many dumbasses in the world to punish a group for an individual mistake. In the past, backs would be turned to "fix" a problem child but now, everyone has rights. Back in the 80's I was honestly scared of getting beat up for not doing what I was told. Yes, I was threatened physically and told, "there ain't gonna be no paperwork, just fun for us". The possibility of getting a bad discharge does not bother people anymore. Some know that giving a bad discharge wastes so much time and money, its easier to just throw people out on a general to get rid of them. Evolution of the military is driven by society, we lower the standards across the board so people feel good about themselves but we are all worse off for it.

Re: Army Strong

I love this one over Army of One.

I hate the berrets they have lost their special meanings now especially the way some of these kids wear them.

As far as the ACU's go I can not comment but I do know that the BDU's can withstand days and days of being in the field.

I could not agree with you more, Sammy!! I'm a Navy guy here, I just dropped in to see what was going on with you guys and could not resist chiming in. Frankly, I believe that right about now, all the branches would benefit from the "Duty, Honor, Country" slogan! The joint commands are out there preaching the "One Team, One Fight" (which I am behind whole heartedly) but a majority of these kids that are leaving boot lately cannot even get their own heads out of their backsides to be able to look after their own brother/sister (shipmate/soldier/marine)! It's sickening the overall attitude that is coming in these days!

Yes, bootcamp in a whole has taken a dive in recent years mainly due to the whole "equality" and "rights" thing which has particularly gotten out of hand! Let me go ahead and say that I do not work at Navy Boot camp but where alot of these new recruits go on to for their "primary" training afterwards. I used to believe that the breakdown was there, but I'm telling you, as someone stated about society, it starts there! The attitudes of these kids before they arrive knowing that they cannot be touched and then the fear of God over the DI's (RDC's for us) and those of us in Instructor roles not to cross those "boundaries" is scary! As for the Army, yes, it would do great IMO to change out that retarded slogan that they have gone with (and yes, it was the Army-of-1!!) to something more along a soldiers should be mentality. And for the love of all things sacred to military tradition, PLEASE get rid of that gay little beret! For years soldiers and marines ragged on sailors for their attire, but at least when the Green Berets wore those things there was pride there! Anyway, I'll get off my box now ...sorry guys, all this boot stuff is just touchy with me.
