Talking Mom's, Dad's or any pediatricians help?

My wife and I are expecting a baby the due date is 2/14/2007, but it might be sooner.

My wife an I have a couple of questions and Im hoping some of you Mom's or Dad's may be able to help.

Whats better to feed our baby; Liquid or powder formula?

thanx in advance

In my opinion, powder is better. Due to the fact that it lasts longer. The liquid stuff you have to keep refrigerated and the powder you don't. It's been a while since we had to worry about that, but that is my two cents. Of course the best way to go is the all natural way.

I say this from experience, as each child is different, and may or may not, be able to tolerate one or the other.

Agree with some of the others. Depends on the baby. Some will and some will not take one or the other.

We used both for my child but did have problems with enfamil (sp) powder she could not keep that down for anything.

All in all go with we like the liquid. Easy to use and didn't have to mess with anything. Don't worry about the fridge because usually the baby will go through it before the 2 day limit in the fridge.

Congrats and enjoy when the baby arrives it will change your life forever.

Re: Mom's, Dad's or any pediatricians help?

Congrats on the baby!!!

The best is the tit, you asked.

well if that ain't happen'n then get the canned stuff for around the house and keep powdered for trips. If you get the small cans they will be gone in a daily basis. We liked the big cans and would make bottles every night for the next day and 1/2. Just another thing to do at night besides watch TV. Also get one of those handy dandy bottle warmers for the car.(target) They plug in to the 12v power outlet then wrap the bottle like a blanket and heat it up. Those small 12v coolers work great for keeping bottles cool on tips. If I still had all my baby gadets I'd send them to you.

Re: Mom's, Dad's or any pediatricians help?

+1^ I breast fed both my children. my girl till 4 months then went to powder formula. my boy breast fed for 18 months. the difference in the overall health of both my kids is amazing. My daughter had 9 ear infections in her left ear from 9 monthsto 2 years. my son only had one. my girl had febral seizures, pneumonia. constant colds. My son had one ear infection. I definitely recommend breast feeding.

If you must use formula, use powder. you can make a bottle at a time, travel is much easier and you never have to guess if the formula got warm.

Re: Mom's, Dad's or any pediatricians help?

Feb 14th is the greatest day in history you know.
That's when I was born.
Kids aren't that hard to deal with when they are new. Just use some common sense, and beware. The first thing a baby boy will do for his parents is to show off his natural fountain.

Whatever those squishy pink things can keep down. On all three of my kids we used the powder.

I hear you on that one. I'm just lucky he has a poor aim, for now.

I use Simulac with Iron(powder). And when the baby needs milk, you can just stop to get some water and mix instead of carrying heavy liquid around. Especially in the hot summer weather.

Bah-Ding!!! Here is the answer, from a lady who knows... Yes, I agree with this, see if you can convince momma to breast feed right off the back, this boosts baby's immune system from mom's. If mom can steadily breast feed, via staying home or pump and store, it is the best for the first year. My own experience, 1st girl had been breast fed for first 4 mths, then went to powder formula (storage ease). The second, a boy, no breast feeding, he spent the first year with all those late night Urgent Care trips...(pain in the @$$). Our third, girl, now 9 mths. old, started with breast feeding for 3 mths. and now in powder formula, and she has had 0 visits to the doctor other than required visits. Just my own experience and backing up what Belle says (cause she is a mom, and mom's know best). Congratulations ahead of time and get your sleep now because you will have one heck of a time management challenge when baby arrives...

Re: Mom's, Dad's or any pediatricians help?

All Doctors will tell your wife that breast feeding is better for the baby than any formula because the baby gets benifits from mothers imune system which formulas cant provide which is why breast feed kids get sick less.

My mother always said kids that are cow feed are going to have hard heads like cows, hard to talk too. She recommended it but both my wifes didn't go for it.
