I'm thinking about buying a treadmill. I want to get a reasonably-priced, good quality, quiet, treadmill that will hold up and last a while. Can anyone recommend some models for me?
I'll probably buy from Academy, because I have a friend who works there that can get me 25% off. Probably won't buy one for a few months, just researching right now.
You should look on your buddies' back porch, garage, etc.
Almost evey home in America has one that was purchased and relegated to the storage pile. You might get one for free!

You know you had a great night last night when you make it home the next day missing at least 1/2 of your clothes.
Ag, you looking to get it for walking on or running on? I've read many places that the fold-up ones are generally slightly smaller and not long enough or comfortable to run on. Just FYI...
I have heard good things about the Bowflex treadmill. It's the 7-series, I think. Half the price of the top end units, slightly longer than most fold-up ones and better build quality than most. They run around $1500 though.....
I get bored out of my mind on the treadmill. My solution was to set up a small TV that I could watch while pounding out a couple of miles. All treadmills make noise and even the quiet ones are a problem because you are standing right on top of the noise. I’d have to turn the TV up way too loud or miss some of my morning news. So I got a pair of these http://www.amazon.com/JVC-HANC100-No.../dp/B0000U19F0. Wow! What a difference. They don’t cancel all of the noise but there is a real difference. I can now exercise at 5:30 in the morning without waking the rest of the family.

I want to run on it. Thanks for the tip about that

It's gonna go in my living room for the rest of college, and into my TV room once I buy my house.
The NordicTrack Elite 3200 has an LCD TV built into the control panel. It's around $1900. By the way, get yourself a box fan to set beside it too. It helps....
There is this thing similar to a treadmill that is good for running on..... its called the ground. Sorry i just felt like being a smartass. You can join a gym for like $20 a month and have access to all the other equipment as well.

But I can hit my treadmill first thing out of bed and afterward take a shower in my own bathroom then talk to the family before I leave for work. I't fits my lifestyle better.

There aren't many gyms worth joining for that price per month. The typical price around here is $35 a month, minimum. You can also buy a yearly membership which discounts that a little more, but not much. $20 would be a good deal but I'd think that place would be VERY crowded!
I pay $20/month at golds gym, and i can go to any golds gym in vegas. They have nice equipment and the one i go to is never really that busy. I know it wasnt what you asked Agtitan, i was just throwing something out there. You could probably find a good deal at a garage sale, as mentioned before its one of those items that lots of people buy only to let collect dust.

Landice makes commercial quality treadmills. Check them out. they are the kind you find in real gyms. I bought one for our corporate gym a few months ago. Rock solid, no corny unecessary plastic junk, and works great.
You may also want to consider a Nautalis Elliptical. Bought one of those to, commercial grade was like 2300 and they make lower models. Cool thing is, it doesnt plug in, starts up when you start moving as it makes its own power and runs the electronic display and resistance portions with your own power.

I'm not too keen on treadmills, but my wife is a treadmill junky. After buying and disposing of a couple of treadmills intended for private home use, we bought a rebuilt commercial gym unit off of Ebay. It has been flawless for a couple of years now. The downside is that it is extremely heavy and not portable or foldable.
