Entire Dallas convoy gets pulled over by TX DPS and 4 sheriffs

Thanks to the Houston guys for having us. We had a great time at the meet and we also had a great time getting up there. On the way back we had a little bit of an adventure. Traffic was horrible and everyone was getting mad at us thinking we were blocking traffic. While we were using our radios and staying together we were also being held up by traffic in front of us. We had one guy pass a car on the shoulder trying to get around, he swerved into several of the guys and he slammed on his brakes in front of Ray spraying rocks all over his truck. When we were about 40 miles from Dallas we pass a state trooper pulling onto the media from an intersecting highway. A few of us were running radar detectors and he didn't have his radar on, and we got slowed down before we passed him. Well he comes up behind us and proceeds to pull ALL 7 of us over. We pull over on the shoulder he then stops is patrol car on the highway and gets out and starts directing traffic around him. Finally he pulls his car in front of Wally and is then joined by several of the county sheriff deputies. They had received numerous complaints about our driving. He approaches Wally's truck and tells him that "you name it, we did it and he is going to write us tickets for wreckless driving, speeding, etc.", moves down the line until he gets to John (a police man) who explains what had happened and that he is also a cop. That calms the cop down. He gives us all warnings and when he came to my truck I apoligized and said we didn't mean to cause any trouble. He said, "no problem, pulling over 7 trucks makes me look like the king of the road".

that cop could not have given them all tickets anyways, because they didn't witness anything nor did the cop hit them with radar. He was only going off what the 911 calls said. I'm sure he could have given them the tickets, but it would not have been fair I think.

I cant believe you all pulled over...wow.

I would of told the officer to do what he thinks is necessary and be ready to prove it in court. I would of fought anything he wrote since he saw nothing and only "citizen" concerns which are about 90% bogus anyway.

Well you will have to take my word for it then wouldnt you.

Not to mention I didnt say to do anything illegal I only stated let the officer do what they want and go to court and talk to the judge. I would of clearly informed the officer of my intentions of showing up so they would too.

Seems that how it turned out, they handled it the right way. Your way would have been dumb, at least that's my word for it.

I miss where you think my thought process is dumb. I never commented on how to treat the officer yet let them do their job. Fight it if you werent doing anything wrong in court not on the road.

If you are doing something illegal and get pulled over deal with the consequences.

If you arent doing anything illegal and you get pulled over, I wont fight with the officer and argue, just let them do their job. I will then go to court if I wasnt doing anything wrong and plead my case.

I see no fallacies in my way of handling things.

Seems one of them did something wrong and for the officer to say they are all going to get tickets for everything seems a bit outrageous. If I wasnt doing anything wrong and got reckless driving / speeding / racing tickets I would be remiss not to argue it in court. BUT if I was doing those things I would have to take my licks and be on my way.

Just to make clear the turning point was when one officer spoke with another. Otherwise they probably would of all been written up for something. There is nothing they did otherwise that would of prevented that.

The one thing that got us INTO Trouble, "Helped" to get us out.

We were all in 'Communication' with each other on our "Talk-Abouts".
So, when he approached us we kept in Formation, and pulled over "in Formation".
Which I'm sure was pretty Impressive to everybody else's eyes.

I was ready to take whatever punishment. (We Were ALL Guilty)
I'm glad the cop was Cool.
But he DID have "Resonable Cause" to throw the Book at us.
(Since it wasn't "Witnessed" by a cop. It was "Hear-say")

Who was this comment for? I am hoping it wasn't for me..........I never said I was above the law. In fact, I told him what our faults were and told him the truth. He didn't see anything illegal but YES, could have done something but chose not to. He was very cool with it and told us to take care.

I am still trying to figure out who you think is above the law and has an ego? I am eager to know.
