The one with the ring gear and the one with the brakes? They show the ring gear and brakes of "most 1/2 tons" and then theirs. Wondering where we fall into this.

the one with the breaks, i don't really see THAT big of a difference. yes, they are bigger, but not significantly-not worth the hype. the rear end yes, but not the brakes.

They have to be better.....................look at the teeter totter commercial!!

I believe everything I see on tv!
TV is gospil right.....
I just like how they say most other 1/2 ton trucks have this... and the Toyota has this... So... I was just wondering where our ring and brakes fall into that picture. The funny thing is that they don't ever mention anything about the toys frame; engine, brakes, towing, but not a peep about thier c-channel frame... hmmmmm

While I find the new Tundra as ugly as hell. I'll tip my hat to Toyota for throwing $300 million into marketing the thing! Some of there commercials do make you laugh and shake your head.

If you notice in the ad, both brake rotors are 5 lug...so the smaller one is probably from the old Tundra. The new Tundra is just 5 lug also.
Also, they wasted a lot of money on the teeter-totter and the ramp over the canyon. I guess it is more dramatic and we all talk about it...so it works for them. I could probably retire on what it cost to make those two commercials.
As for the new Tundra, it might be a great truck, but they will have to make it better looking for me to consider it.

i had the same question about the ring gear... brakes are something you'll upgrade with tires and wheels anyways usually to aftermarket, so whoopie do da... the ring gear though.... massive. anyone else have a pinion...

you mean you dont drive your truck over a teeter-totter?
good catch on the 5 lug, I didn't look at it that closely (usually do). Goes to show you that toyota skimped again with 5 lugs instead of 6

The Tundra's ring gear is 10.5",(5.7L, Tow) I think the Titan's is 8.5"
The Tundra's rotors are 13.9"X1.26", the front brakes have 4-pistons calipers with 74 sq. inches swept area.
The Tundra's 5 lugs are about 20% larger in diameter than the Titan's 6 lugs.

I wonder why they didn't go with 6 lugs. If they are spending that much extra money on a redesign. Seems like common sense.
