mustang exhaust

how come a sports car exhaust sounds so much different from a truck or somethin. especially the titan. the titan has a bigger engine but i have seen mustangs with the 4.6 sound a lot louder and more aggresive. why is this if anybody can tell me?

thanks

Re: mustang exhaust

Don't Mustangs also have a crossover or h-pipe? That makes a difference in the sound. Same for x-pipes.

Technically speaking, yes.

Not sure it would sound the same though.

Re: mustang exhaust

I've always loved the sound of the newer V-8 mustangs with headers and an exhaust. They sound very clean & aggressive. ...there must be something to the motor itself or exhaust design/routing as I've never heard as agood a sound from other cars...can't speak for Titans as I haven't heard many with exhaust.

Re: mustang exhaust

I put a spintech single in single out muffler on my Titan and it sounds really good.
I had the same mufflers on my 02 GT and it sounded good as well. They sounded different but my Titan has a similar sound.
I also had an aftermarket h-pipe w/ high flow cats and that really made it sound alot better and louder.
A lot of Mustangs are running around with an offroad X or H pipe and that really make is loud and sounds awsome.

Magna flow is the first to come to mind. If you go to www.summitracing.com you can look at diff ones and their prices.

Re: mustang exhaust

x-pipes also claim to scavenge exhaust gasses more quickly because as one pulse crosses the x it actually causes a vacuum in the other pipe and draws that pulse out faster and so on and so on. This is what causes the "popping" sound to be amplified through whatever muffler you buy. I will say this; this is a difficult sound to get used to, it almost sounds like predetenation inside the cab aka:spark knock

Re: mustang exhaust

One more thing and then I'll STFU, you will lose bottom end torque by going with true duals. You will also gain top end hp. I did not go with with one on my Titan because I want all the bottom end torque I can get. I went with what's in my sig.
