Would you drive one of these?

Like the title says.

Some of features sound interesting.

Re: Would you drive one of these?

It sure is strange looking. The front of it looks like a bastardized Jeep! And the side view of the 4-door looks like the rear wheels are on the same wheelbase as the singlecab! Too much rear overhang. The diesel sounds decent, but of course, the hi-tech versions are NOT time-tested, so reliability is a question. Would I drive one? Well, considering the issues that large, successful companies who know what they're doing have had with their first year truck models, I'd have to say, unequivocally, NO!!!!

I sure would not, to me looks like a geo tracker with a ford ranger bed welded on it

Re: Would you drive one of these?

Two years away from introduction, the truck should be completely ready for market. We should be seeing road tests, emissions certifications all done or underway, stuff going to get consumer interest. Instead we have only 240 dealers, and there are questions in this interview answered with, "We're still working on that right now. I can't give you all the details on it..."

NOT very confidence-inspiring. It feels like a Yugo of pickup trucks.

I was stupid enough to buy a Hyundai Excel; it looked pretty good in the showroom. Maintenance headaches. Lost my shirt. Never again on something like this.

And look at the truck again, if you're thinking it looks like a Jeep: Instead, think 80's Toyota. WAY out of date. It generally looks like a garden tractor with an all-weather cab stuck on it.

"The trucks will be priced starting somewhere in the low-twenties."

Maybe if it was in the low teens.

Re: Would you drive one of these?

defenetly if the price is right, this truck looks like a good rig to fix up and hit the trails, but they are probably going to get no aftermarket love for the 1st couple of years.

Re: Would you drive one of these?

I'm waiting for the Scion brand to introduce a mini pickup...... I know it's got Toyota innards, but it just seems right up their alley.

If Scion were to build a truck it would be only for streetable tuning only...i.e. - tuner people....can't see it ever contending with a Titan

As for this new truck, I would have to give it at least 3 years to work out the kinks. Hopefully by then they look alot better then they do now.....after looking at a Titan, nothing looks as good

Re: Would you drive one of these?

Absolutely can NOT see myself in one of these. I had a 2 Mitsubishi Mighty Max's. Good, decent made trucks but small. There are times that I miss the gas mileage but that's about it. I kept my 2nd MM for almost 11 yrs, even after I bought my Titan. But as time progressed, it got driven less and less, HAHAHA. Right after I sold it, Gas started its climb. Now, with my wife, two children, two dogs, and the camper that I pull, I really cannot see a compact in my future. Even without the camper, when we're using my wife's Altima, it seems soooooooo small compared to the titan.

Re: Would you drive one of these?

I believe it will be close to the slowest truck out there. Sure it will save gas. But America wants speed. The frontier will do circles around that thing and most likely have more power than that little diesel.

Re: Would you drive one of these?

One ton capacity and diesel? I think the service industry is going to suck these up like hot cakes. Think of all the air condition repairmen, roadside crews, etc. What they always order is a half ton pickup with the smallest engine. It might be ugly, but when the boss can realize probably 10mpg better gas mileage on average with a fleet of 40-50 trucks, that is big dollars folks. I think for that kind of industry, these will sell great. I could never fit my family lifestyle into it, but if I needed a compact p/u, I'ld take a look at it. We definitely need some specs though.

Re: Would you drive one of these?

I'd buy one as a company truck... as a personal vehicle not a chance.
