As of right now the GT-R laps the Ring faster than 3 or 4 super cars that cost 4 or 5 times its cost. It also lapped the ring faster than latest Z06....not to sure about the up coming ZR1 though...that will be a treat.

There was an article in the Popular Mechanics that showed up in my mail yesterday. 475HP, supposedly designed for function, not form. Things like the little breaks in the "C" pillars, supposedly help with downforce on the rear wheels, etc.
"A veteran is someone who, at one point in his life wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is Honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it."

Yeah. They say the GT-R has Porsche shaking in their boots... Uh huh... Porsche is just about the only car company with seriously black ink at the end of the year, and growing. Shaking? I think not. And again, if money's no object, my choice would still be the GT3. Realistically, I can't afford either, so it all remains just a dream......

Yeah, they're both a pipe dream for me too. But once again it's that bang for the buck kind of thing, and Nissan did it well. Now, does it have the iconic name of the Porsche? Absolutely not. Does it have the long term racing heritage of the Porsche? Absolutely not. Does it have a cultish reputation? Yeah. Will people really pay 70-80k for a Nissan? That's the 64,000 dollar question. So....since they're both a pipe dream, yeah I'd vote the Porsche into my imaginary garage. What kid didn't want one growing up. What big kid (like me) still doesn't? But dayum, that's one wicked fast Nissan!

Just a Nissan??? Yeah it is a Nissan..........but they have way more than went past the norm on the GT-R. I bet i could take one lap and be like Holy S***!!!! It's about time the states got a piece of the fine autos available overseas like the GT-R.
95 Wellcraft Nova Spider 454 Magnum (350 hp)
73 mph (GPS) It really likes the gas too!
89 SE V6 hardbody w/320,000 miles used to pull
my boat.......(needed a bigger truck).
Options in order:
2 degree timing advance thanks to Titanblue,
Fram AirHog, Nissan Hood Protector, Truxedo, Nissan XM receiver (mounted under steering wheel area as per Forum recommendations....worked like a charm)
with non-Nissan much smaller Xm antenna (mounted through Third brake light hole...piece of cake), and last....so far, PRG leveling kit (love it....no problem install after I realized that I really should listen to PRGreg about disconnecting the anti sway bar)
The only reason that magazine called it a "Corvette Killer" (Motortrend magazine by the way) is to sell copies. I don't know how it "kills" the corvette when it goes from 0-60 .2 seconds faster and runs the exact same 1/4 mile (11.7 sec). The GT-R ran a 7:38 to the Z06s 7:42 around the Nurburgring. By no means am I trashing the GT-R, I think its a freakin awesome car. But, to call it a "Corvette Killer" is stretching it out there a bit...
My heart is set (and always has been) on the Z06 ever since it's debut is 1963. With the new Corvette ZR1 coming out (2900 lbs. and 650+ hp) things will get very interesting in the Supercar world. Also, they're finally ditching the piece of crap Goodyear Eagle F1 tires on the current Z06 and replacing them with a much better (and stickier) Michelin Pilot tire for the ZR1.
I love it when cars as amazing as the Z06 and GT-R come out for 1/3 to 1/2 the price of other supercars and wipe them clean at their own game.

Once it starts raining it will be killing that Corvette Well, provided that the tires are similar.
After driving an STi and Evo for the last few years (pre-Titan), I have a soft place in my heart for a turbocharged, awd vehicle. Let's hope the engine is stout enough to allow a little modification... like getting rid of that twin turbo setup in a hurry in place of a fat single
As far as the argument of "$80,000 for a Nissan?", that's the kind of thinking that forces us to water down sports cars with luxury and weight just to satisfy someone's lack of self confidence with a brand badge ("acura" "lexus" "infiniti"). Now granted this GTR has it's own bit of luxury, they're going for almost a grand-touring style car, but as far as price, you could say the same thing regarding the Viper or (z06) Corvette now that their prices have gone up over the years. And also, the level of technology in this car is pretty impressive; let's hope it's reasonably reliable
Gotta start saving my pennies! Can't wait for some better US specs on the website.
