Just wondering how many enjoy going down and some of the places you have been to. I've been lucky enough to have done some diving on the Great Barrier Reef, Jamaica, Cozumel, Belize, through out Florida, Alabama, and the rigs off of Louisiana. My last notable recent dive was on the aircraft carrier Oriskany. The Oriskany is the largest artificial reef in the world and luckily it's very close by.

I did quite a bit of it in Okinawa. Killed a octapus one time and played with the sea snakes at times. Very cool place to go.

I dived at every spot available while stationed on Guam. Lots of wrecks and caves and such. Tons of reefs. Used a home-made spear gun to catch some Mahi-Mahi.
I dived in Australia once. Not the Great Barrier reef...I would have loved that.
I haven't, however, been down in two years since I moved to Cali....

I used to spear fish a lot, mostly off the coastal waters of Oahu.
I do have lesson learned though. I think it goes with my Hawaiian ancestry. We were off the Portlock coastal area and we were out spearing. It's along the eastern side of Oahu, HI. It was epic...clear waters, and fish in abundance. We had a central tether where we would thread the fish we caught on to as well as our tethers. All of us saw a dark shadow trolling around...one of my friends caught a good view of it. So while treading above water, we make the shark signal...basically puting my palms together and holding it above my head, which means we should get out. But some of us decided to get a few last shots in...and thats where greed got a hold of us. In Hawaiian mythology...Sharks were our Amakua, which means they're our ancestors in another form. While we were getting our last game...it was watching over us. One of the guys decided to go after the central tether and bring it in. Myself and the other guys were already at shore watching out for the shark. We thought our friend was safe because we were looking through our polarized glasses. Well..that's why I wrote thought. Roughly about 6'-8' to getting to the tether line...the shark shoots upwards and grabs the tether and gets about 3' in the air and, by the looks of it...the shark looked to be about 5'-6', it was some kind of bronze shark...not known to be aggressive towards people...but they do eat a lot. The site was both spectacular and horrific. Immediatly...our friend cut his tether and swan as fast as he could back to shore. We thought that the shark, our amakua, was telling us that we shouldnt be so greedy, and that they are always watching. Come to think of it...there was always some kind of reef shark around us.
Well that was our lesson learned. So we keep things at a very minimum.
My wife is an instructor. We've been to the Channel Islands many times, I recommend the dive boat Peace out of Ventura http://www.peaceboat.com/. Have also been to Bali, and spent 31 days on the island of Koh Tao in Thailand. Oustanding diving both places, cheap too.

I'd love to dive Thailand. Can you give me some recommendations? Did you use a travel agent or set the trip up yourself?
