Re: 2004 frontier 4x4 s/c crew longbed

I would tell him to look for a 05 or newer.
They are not much if any more expensive.

If he did choose the 04 it would still be a fairly safe bet that it would be very reliable.

The 3.3 is a old school engine ,and is down on power compared to whats avalible now ,but PLENTY reliable ,and plenty adaquate with the superchager as far as power goes.
The S/C Fronty is not fast at all ,but it dosent feel like its struggling.
Its the way that generation truck should have been without the S/C.

My dad has a 01 S/C Fronty with 160k+ with hardly any problems.
The passenger side exhaust manifold ,and knock sensor were replaced under warranty at 70k.
Those are the 2 common problems with that engine.
It will require a timing belt at 105k.
I love the way the last gen Frontiers look especially with the S/C wheels so if he really likes it I say go for it.

Do the newer generation Frontiers have a belt or chain?

Skeet, the 05+ use a timing chain.

Tayfoyastitan, Did your buddy end up getting the truck?
