I don't know if the info about Louisiana Senator, Mary Landrieu (D) is correct but the rest is pretty cool in any comparison.
No dissrespect to those who suffered in New Orleans but if the request it true how much of that money do you REALLY think will get to the people???
Quote:
The next time you hear a politician use the word "billion" in a casual manner, think about whether you want the "politicians" spending YOUR tax money.
A billion is a difficult number to comprehend, but one advertising agency did a good job of putting that figure into some perspective in one of its releases.
A. A billion seconds ago it was 1959.
B. A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive.
C. A billion hours ago our ancestors were living in the Stone Age.
D. A billion days ago no-one walked on the earth on two feet.
E. A billion dollars ago was only 8 hours and 20 minutes, at the rate our government is spending it.
While this thought is still fresh in our brain, let's take a look at New Orleans It's amazing what you can learn with some simple division . .
Louisiana Senator, Mary Landrieu (D), is presently asking the Congress for $250 BILLION to rebuild New Orleans. Interesting number, what does it mean?
A. Well, if you are one of 484,674 residents of New Orleans (every man, woman, child), you each get $516,528.
B. Or, if you have one of the 188,251 homes in New Orleans , your home gets $1,329,787.
C. Or, if you are a family of four, your family gets $2,066,012.

That pissed me off. 250billion are you effing kidding. I know they have other things than just rebuilding homes they have to fix streets, sewers, ect. but come on. I am moving to alaska next year and the government can pay me. I am sick of paying all my $$$ in taxes and the government just throwing it around like its change. I am 25 and I have to pay social security so lazy people like my mom can get a 1k check a month and she has never even worked. Then when I am her age I still will not get anything because its all spent.
Most of those people in New Orleans don't even own their own place, so they aren't out much. Those that did should have had insurance, I did and after I fixed my stuff I sold and moved out of that place. BTW I didn't live in N.O. but I lived about 60 miles to the south east. We actually got it worse by Rita. Now those people (and I use the term loosely) are suing fema, because the travel trailer had chemicals in it. MAN THOSE PEOPLE P*SS ME OFF. New Orleans s*cks.

Tell me about it, I did joint FEMA/VA hurricane relief which landed me in WACO. There where people that really needed help and did the right thing and then there where ones that spent their FEMA check on plasma TV’s and then would come to me for money so they could buy their kids diapers I was supply so I dealt with handing out the FEMA checks and getting the needs of the family met crazy stuff.
I just did the math, and 1 billion seconds ago it was 1976, not 1959. That really brings to question the rest of the math. Still hate the crap going on with that though.
