Warranty on new tv bought on ebay?

Hi all, odd question, just cant find the answer.

Basically, I have a brand new tv, sealed in the box, that I am needing to sell.

I am not an authorized dealer.

The warranty application cards are in the box.

A buyer wants to purchase it but needs to make SURE that the factory warranty can be activated after he buys it.

I am hoping that the buyer will only need the warranty app in the box, and not also to prove that it was bought from a retail store and not from an individual.

Can anyone please confirm with certainty for me?

Thanks

-Rob

Re: Warranty on new tv bought on ebay?

I believe it depends on the warranty card and what is states is needed to turn in to properly start the warranty period. I have purchased a tv from ebay before from an authorized reseller. I had the bulb go out after about 5 months (it is a dlp) and had to fax in the copy of the receipt from the ebay seller before they would send out a new bulb. Was the original seller an authorized seller of them (the brand) and do you still have the receipt form the Ebay purchase?

Re: Warranty on new tv bought on ebay?

No orig sales receipt, it was part of a storage unit takeover.

I am an ebay Trading Assistant, selling the item for a customer.

I can produce a sales receipt to the buyer when it sells, but the original retail receipt (if there even was one), does not exist.

I am a business so I charge sales tax if that makes a difference

thanks

Interesting thread, I am going to keep an eye on it.

Have you contacted the Vendor of the TV and ask them ?

Re: Warranty on new tv bought on ebay?

well, I have not tried calling them, assuming that they would just give me the blanket refusal if not bought from them. I checked out their policies online but found nothing that answered my Q.

I posted this Q to a few other sites, just want a collaborative answer

Re: Warranty on new tv bought on ebay?

just an update for who's interested

I called the manufacturer directly --> the warranty eligibility depends on the unit's individual serial #. They confirmed the serial # has never been activated, so the full warranty can be put in place, regardless of where it was originally purchased.

yee haw

Re: Warranty on new tv bought on ebay?

glad to hear that worked out. I was gonna say that would probably be the next best thing to do. Too bad it isn't service like Tech12 gives, that man would probably warranty something he sold 5 years ago to make a customer happy.
