Checked out a Cam Am Spyder Roadster

Realizing this isn't convention, I ran across this at the local auto show and was very intrigued. Powered by a vtwin engine with 77 ftlbs torque and 106 hp, acceleration is claimed to be under 4 seconds for a zero to sixty time. What is intriguing to me is the hybrid nature of this vehicle, with car like characteristics.

I particularly like the weather resistant front trunk compartment for gear, and luggage rack attachments are also available. It gives open road enjoyment that of a motorcycle, comfortable seating for two, and for my height it offered comfortable driving positions.

It isn't a motorcycle which has its own unique driving experience. I think I will check one out once the weather gets warm, more out of curiosity. Seems like a great commuter vehicle, fast, stable, and gas friendly. Sitting on the Spyder felt like that of a performance snowmobile.

Re: Checked out a Cam Am Spyder Roadster

I checked one of these out at the Can-Am dealer in Anchorage, the thing is smaller than I thought it would be from the pics I had seen online. But I sat on it and it was surprisingly comfortable.

They are taking deposits on them for $14-17K. I have been considering a Yamaha FX Nytro MTX snowmachine, but for around $5K more I could ride a Spyder. It would make my summer commute a far better experience! Problem is the season is short. Although I know of about 4-5 guys who ride Harley-Davidson trikes around all winter...studded tires and very warm clothes baby!
